If you don't have a food processor, start working the flour and butter with your hands and then add the rest of the ingredients and knead until you have your dough. Satisfying by themselves, Anna's Thins are also a perfect pairing for cheese and fruit. They make a scrumptious crumble for a pie crust and ice cream topping. Anna's Almond Thins have a distinctive fresh almond flavour. What gives the Swedish gingerbread biscuits their distinctive flavour is a combination of spices and the use of both sugar and syrup. Golden syrup (from the sugar cane), maple syrup, corn syrup, liquid honey or date molasses are all viable alternatives. The use of one syrup over the other will change the colour of the dough.
