The iPhone is now a handheld computer, plus a camera, so I turned it over to our senior camera analyst, Jim Fisher, to test it. The iPhone XS display has rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 5.85 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less). Otherwise, there's very little in iOS 12, other than things covered elsewhere in this review, that needs an iPhone XS/XR. There's the occasional third-party app that uses the front-facing, depth-sensing camera, but there aren't that many. iOS is a reason to get an iPhone, absolutely, but it's not necessarily a reason to get this iPhone specifically.
