About this deal

The GROHE Red technology then allows you to draw up to four litres of filtered kettle-hot water directly from the tap in an instant, so there is no waiting around. A super-safe hot water tap that boasts a stylish design and great build quality, the Grohe Red Duo absolutely deserves a spot in our round up of the best boiling water taps.

The M-size boiler (37cm high) has a 3 litre capacity while the L-size (49cm high) boils up to 5.5 litres. Both have a 21cm diameter, so a small footprint. Most of these appliances make boiling water available at an instant, hence the name. It takes on average three minutes for a kettle to boil. If you have one cup of tea or coffee per day, that is 18 hours per year you are waiting for the kettle to be ready.Whereas most boiling water taps don’t technically reach boiling point and are instead limited to around 98°C, this one does reach the full temperature. A hot-water tap provides instant hot water without needing to wait for the kettle or a pan on the hob to boil. Worth noting, though, is that it's a much more permanent addition to your kitchen than a conventional kettle or plug-in hot water dispenser. James turned up on time, was very polite and professional. Confirmed the issue and said “no problem, it’s a straight forward replacement”. Furthermore, the boiler tank has a led display screen for easy reading. Also, the presence of a pressure reducing valve ensures that it can work with both minimum and maximum pressure supplies. As a result, the spout discharges with laminar flow. Moreover, it has a filtration unit that helps make water from the tap portable.

You will have seen that many of the taps featured only go up to around 95-98° (just under boiling point). Not technically living up to their name, you may think. This 4-in-1 is easy to install and comes with great instructions to follow. The temperature reaches 100˚C (boiling point) unlike other boiling taps on the market, and it is stored at 105˚C, ready for when you need it next. There is a ten minute recovery time so you don’t have to wait long for it to refill, and it provides up to 10 cups at any one time thanks to the 4L storage tank. If you want to replace your taps rather than adding to them, choosing a multi-function tap can free up space around your sink. The flow from the dedicated boiling water tap is just a little spluttery, in the sense of not quite being a seamless flow. It spits a little when you first turn, then starts shooting out. This can sound a bit worrying, but doesn’t actually spray all over the place or anything – it goes straight down into your mug or pot easily enough. There is often more to an instant boiling water tap than an ordinary tap, and they are much more complicated appliances: Addition Of A BoilerBrass construction, chrome finish, 3L tank, 4 temperature settings, 80-98°C temperature range, removable filtration unit. While instant hot water taps are often referred to as boiling water taps, most boiling water taps might boil the water to 100ºC, but it's delivered at 98°C (many have adjustable temperature settings). There are only a few taps that truly deliver boiling water, and we've listed many of them above.

Whatever the price, you'll need to factor in the ongoing cost of filters, which can vary significantly by brand. Is a boiling water tap cheaper to run than a kettle? Cleanliness. Thanks to its water conditioning filter, your hot water will always be free of sediment, odour and any unwanted particles. We had no problems housing the water tank under the sink, and still had space for a shelf to go above it, so there wasn’t much impact at all on storage. The filter needs to be upright, so that’s best if mounted to a side panel, so that’s another factor when you’re working out where everything will go. And we say spray, because the spout has a big button on it so that you can switch from a single jet of water to a circle of smaller jets, so you can go for power or coverage easily. We've donned our appliance hats to compare the manufacturing quality, ease of installation, add-on availability, safety features, appearance, the size and the price – all the important elements – so, essentially, you don't have to spend your precious minutes, hours and days looking for the best option. We've done all the leg work for you. How to choose the best boiling water tap and hot water tapWater flow can also be controlled manually by turning and holding the dial to give more or less water than the pre-set options. A separate lever on the other side delivers regular hot and cold water.

Stainless steel is likely to be the more cost-effective option, though you can choose different colours to fit in with your kitchen decor, along with chrome, brass or gold metallic finishes. Child-safe features If you prefer filtered water, most models will also remove harsh-tasting chemicals - and in some cases soften and aerate the water, too. So, if you aren't keen on the water in your area, this could help to make it more palatable. What are the downsides of installing a boiling-water tap? The build quality and the overall look and feel of the Insinkerator suggests that it might be more premium than you might initially think. That’s a definite positive.
