About this deal

The Summer Infant My Travel Potty Deluxe works in two ways: Potty chair and potty ring (a.k.a. toilet insert or trainer). We find the the potty is stable when used on a flat surface as a potty chair. The legs of the potty extend out and snap into place, so you know it's ready to go, but It is less stable when placed on top of an existing toilet seat. We'd be wary of using it for that purpose without careful adult supervision.

It’s lightweight enough to be hung on the handles of a buggy too. And if your child is caught short somewhere inconvenient, the potty even has a leak-proof seal so you can just close it up and deal with the contents later. Because it doesn't require a bag, there’s no additional outlay once you’ve bought it (and it’s better for the environment as well). We think kids will like the friendly animal designs and might even have fun carrying it around themselves. All in all, we can see why this award-winning potty has fast become a favourite with parents.

3. Best potty for tall toddlers: Fisher-Price Character Potty

The best potty training seat is the one that your child will use consistently. For my oldest, a freestanding training toilet worked wonderfully, but my younger son preferred an insert seat with handles and a stool to use the big toilet on his own right from the start. It’s really whatever works best for your child. “Parents can absolutely feel free to mix and match approaches,” says Dr. Eaker.

BabyBjorn Potty Chair. My son is massive for his age and he fits in it. A normal cheap one there'd be no chance. More expensive but you want them to be comfortable anyway!’ - recommended by Mumsnet user, rh6718 Our verdict Aside from that detail, the potty’s design, ease of cleaning, and overall value were home runs. We loved how the potty folded down for easy portability and the included storage pouch made a difference as well. Throughout testing, we found this potty chair great for keeping in the trunk of a car, since it's designed for potty training on-the-go and takes up very little room. Travel potty – some fold out and have disposable bags inside that can be tied and binned after use, while others can be carried like a bag, opened up for use and then emptied into a public loo. The unique, versatile design of the potty is a big reason we liked it so much during testing. Disposable bags with absorbent pads are included, but regular plastic bags (like the dozens of grocery store bags under your kitchen sink) also fit. That means there's not much clean up needed since everything goes right into the disposable bag. And it takes up little space since it comes with an included storage bag for convenient portability.

We like that the removable bowl makes for easy cleaning, and the contoured design of the bowl prevents any dirt or other germs from hiding in unwanted places. Once you’ve washed it with soap and water, liquid simply pours out of the side spout for mess-free cleaning. Not only is this a versatile potty chair by its own design, but we also think it's versatile for both potty training beginners and advanced kiddos. And, once your child is ready to graduate to the next stage of potty training, it comes with a removable topper that can be placed right inside a regular-sized toilet. It also has a built-in compartment up top for wipes and storing other toileting accessories your kiddo might need, like books. Potette! You’re right- not especially eco (but then disposable nappies aren’t either if you’ve been using those). It’s worth having one for emergencies, and also useful as a seat on put on to toilets so that they don’t fall in/ need holding.’ - recommended by Mumsnet user, PatchworkElmer It’s really helpful to be able to pop the seat off because my daughter loves her choices of the big toilet or small toilet,” says Alexandra Bisonó, Senior Art Director at What to Expect. “When we’ve used the big toilet with this seat, I’ve found it is really nicely cushioned to others we had tried that are plastic and hard.” Yes, this is a book rather than a potty, but we think it’s invaluable for parents in need of a step-by-step guide to potty training. Oh Crap! Potty Training: Everything Modern Parents Need to Know to Do It Once and Do It Right may well be the toilet-training Holy Grail you need.
