About this deal

Traditionally, UV-filters are categorized as either chemical or physical. The big difference is supposed to be that chemical agents absorb UV-light while physical agents reflect it like a bunch of mini umbrellas on top of theskin. While this categorization is easy and logicalit turns out it's not true. A recent, 2016 study shows that inorganic sunscreens work mostly by absorption, just like chemical filters, and only a little bit by reflection (they do reflect the light in the visible spectrum, but mostly absorb in the UV spectrum). These three letters stand for Poly Vinyl Pyrollidone, a big molecule created from repeated units of Vinyl Pyrrolidone, aka VP. Its main thing is being an importantfilm former. It was the first synthetic polymer introduced as a hair fixative in the 1950s instead of insect-derivedShellac. It's one of those things that help your cosmetics not to go wrong too soon, aka a preservative. Its strong point is being effective againstyeasts and molds, and as a nice bonus seems to be non-comedogenic as well.It is safe in concentrations of less than 0.1%but is acutely toxic when inhaled, so it's not the proper preservative choice for aerosol formulas like hairsprays. Sunsense Face, Lip Balm and Sunsense sensitive all good reliable products factor 50+. Delivery on time.

Creation Consumer Finance Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Register no. 311518). Fragrance free. Now with added Vitamin E and niacinamide, to help improve the appearance of skin texture and tone. If that was not enough, Wikipedia claims that BP-3 is nowadays themost common allergen found in sunscreens, and the always-trustworthy smartskincarewrites that "[benzophenones] have been shown in some studies to promote thegeneration of potentially harmful free radicals". BG’s main job is usually to be a solvent for the other ingredients. Other tasks include helping the product to absorb faster and deeper into the skin (penetration enhancer), making the product spread nicely over the skin (slip agent), and attracting water (humectant) into the skin. Sunsense Daily Face uses SPF 50+ sun protection, which offers broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays. This product also contains Vitamin E which helps to improve the appearance of age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles while improving your skin’s overall elasticity.Regarding safety, BP-3 is somewhat controversial. First, its molecules are small (228 Da) and very lipophilic (oil loving) and these properties result in very goodabsorption. The problem is that you want sunscreens on the top of your skin and not in your bloodstream, so for BP-3 this is a problem. In fact, it absorbs so well that 4 hours after application of a sunscreen product with BP-3,it can be detected in urine. A physical/inorganic sunscreen with pretty broad spectrum (UVB and UVA II, less good at UVA I) protection and good stability. Might leave some whitish tint on the skin, though. Apart from the general controversy around parabens (we wrote about it more here), there is a 2006 in-vitro (made in the lab not on real people) research about methylparaben (MP) sho Another concern of BP-3 is that it shows some estrogenic activity, though it's probably not relevant when applied topically to the skin. Estrogenic activity was confirmed only in-vitro (in test tubes) and when taken orally by lab animals, and not when used topically as you would normally. In fact, a 2004 follow-up study to examine the estrogenic effect of sunscreens when used topically on the whole body found that "the endogenous levels of reproductive hormones were unaffected" (even though BP-3 could be detected both in plasma and urine, so its absorption is no doubt too good). It’s important to remember that sunscreen should be used in conjunction with other protective measures, such as wearing protective clothing, hats, and eyewear.

One of the benefits of SunSense Daily Face is its invisible matte finish. This allows the sunscreen to be used alone or under makeup without leaving any shiny or greasy residue. This makes it a great option for those who want to protect their skin without compromising their makeup routine. Make-up and skincare services, BrowBar benefit, gifting and personalisation workshop, Sephora offers you a whole range of services to come and discover in store SunSense Daily Face is an effective sunscreen that provides superior protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays. I am sure it does the job but unless you want to look like you have been dipped in brilliant white emulsion I suggest you give this product a miss. It was impossible to rub in enough to not leave a white coat on your skin. Good old water, aka H2O. The most common skincare ingredient of all. You can usually find it right in the very first spot of the ingredient list, meaning it’s the biggest thing out of all the stuff that makes up the product.John Lewis plc, registered office: 171 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5NN. These three letters stand for Poly Vinyl Pyrollidone, a big molecule created from repeated units of Vinyl Pyrrolidone, aka VP. Its main thing is being an importantfilm former. Effective from as low as 3% with even more benefits for dry skin at higher concentrations up to 20-40% It’s not something new: it was introduced around 1950 and today it can be used up to 1% worldwide. It can be found in nature - in green tea - but the version used in cosmetics is synthetic.Your SunSense products were recommended to me by Amyjayne Aesthetics last year. I was given some free samples to try, I was extremely pleased with the lightness of them, they're not heavy at all on the skin, they soak in beautifully I especially love the tinted cream. I would definitely recommend anyone to try these, I'm sure you'll love them as much as I do. Before use, it’s important to shake the bottle well to ensure that the ingredients are evenly distributed. Super common little helper ingredient that helps products to remain nice and stable for a longer time. It does so by neutralizing the metal ions in the formula (that usually get into there from water) that would otherwise cause some not so nice changes. On the up side, sunscreens are pretty wellregulated in several parts of the world, and BP-3 is considered " safe as used" and is an allowed sunscreen agent everywhere. It can be used in concentrations of up to 10% in the EU and up to 6% in the US. An often used glycol that works as a solvent, humectant, penetration enhancer and also gives a good slip to the products.

Titanium Dioxide is one of the two members of the elite sunscreen group called physical sunscreens (or inorganic sunscreens if you’re a science geek and want to be precise). In recent months, LUPUS UK has received a growing number of reports from lupus patients unable to obtain SunSense SPF50+ products via their NHS prescription. On Friday, 19th of August, it was confirmed that all SunSense SPF50+ products will be unavailable indefinitely. Patients who receive SunSense SPF50+ products on prescription are advised to consult their doctor for a suitable replacement. Currently, the following Uvistatsunscreens are available on prescription to anyone who suffers from light sensitivity (including all lupus patients): As for Diazolidinyl Urea itself, a study from 1990 writes that at concentrations up to 0.4%, it was a mild cumulative skin irritant, but the CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review) reviewed it in 2006 and found that, in concentrations of <0.5%, it is safe as used, as the amount of formaldehyde released will be smaller than the recommended limit (of less than 0.2%).There is some controversy around BHT. It's not a new ingredient, it has been used both as a food and cosmetics additive since the 1970s. Plenty of studies tried to examine if it's a carcinogen or not. This Truth in Aging article details the situation and also writes that all these studies examine BHT when taken orally. Uvinul T 150 - A new generation, chemical sunscreen (not available in the US due to impossible FDA regulations) that gives the highest photo-stable absorption of all available UVB filters today. The most common type offeared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason parabens. It's a cheap, effective and well-tolerated ingredient to make sure the cosmetic formula does not go wrong too soon.
