About this deal

Inside, you’ll also find 16GB of DDR4 RAM, offering you a load of headroom to work with, whether you’ve got loads of Chrome tabs open, or you’re spending hours playing Football Manager 2022. For the IdeaPad 5 Pro, Lenovo has adopted a 16-inch 2.5K QHD panel. A 2.5K display gives you a resolution of 2560×1400, which means you get substantially more pixels than a standard Full HD screen to ensure images and videos still look sharp, even on this stretched-out screen. Now, if you turn the laptop upside down, you will only see the rather big ventilation grill, while the hot air escapes from in between the lid and the base. Also on the bottom panel, there are a couple of cutouts for the speakers. There’s no fingerprint scanner on this model, but the depth-sensing webcam supports Windows Hello face recognition, which seems to work almost flawlessly, even in dim lighting. The webcam itself isn’t bad. The 720p images can be grainy if the room’s a little gloomy, but the exposure and colour balance are pretty much bang on. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro also has a squarer 16:10 aspect ratio, which is in keeping with other ultrabooks, and gives you a great space to work with newer apps and for web browsing, too. Performance

Performance laptops for creators, professionals, or gamers– we’ve got powerhouses that rival what desktops deliver. Unlike the mainstream and more affordable Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 models of this year, the Pros are more premium designs with more powerful specs and cooling, larger batteries, and better IO and display options. At the same time, though, these are significantly more expensive, starting at 1099 EUR for the AMD models and 1199 for the Intel models here in Europe, and easily going for 1.5-2K once you spec them up.

Lenovo is riding the tide of affordable pro-ready notebooks. In fact, its brand identity makes it some sort of a pioneer in this sphere. As such, it has a reputation to defend, rather than develop.

Internally, these are still available in either AMD Rzeyn or Intel Core variants, with the same choices in processors, up to 32 GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory, gen4 M.2 SSD storage, and 75 Wh batteries. Ultimately, the fast processors, 90Hz refresh rate of the screen, and the rather potent GeForce MX450 add up for a super snippy device. Its battery life could have been better, but we won’t rant about it. We definitely think that buying the IdeaPad 5 Pro (14″) is not a bad idea. All in all, I expect these IdeaPad Pro 5/5i 2023 generations to be some of the most popular 14-inch all-purpose laptops of the year, much like their predecessors in the past. The 2023 updates are significant refinements of the older models, with updated designs and builds, better IO, better screens, more powerful hardware, and a larger battery. The screen choices, on the other hand, are the only potential limitation of these lineups, alongside perhaps pricing and availability. Another disappointment runs around the memory. It is not only soldered to the motherboard, ergo non-upgradeable, but it also has a maximum capacity of 16GB. Well, on the other hand, you get one M.2 PCIe x4 slot for Gen 4 SSDs.We are happy to report that the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14-inch feels snappy and handles multitasking very well. Working with 10-15 tabs open in Chrome at the same times proves to be no issue, even when editing spreadsheets at the same time. On the other side, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i gen8 is built on Intel 13th-gen Raptor Lake Core H processors (Core i7-13700H, Core i5-13500H), with Iris integrated graphics and an optional Nvidia RTX 3050 6GB dGPU in this 14-inch model. In comparison, there’s no dGPU for the 14-inch AMD configurations. That’s somewhat understandable, given the superior graphics performance of the RDNA-based AMD iGPUs over the Intel iGPUs, but this also means that the Intel models are the more powerful all-around configurations when specced to the i7+3050 specs. The combination of the QHD+ resolution and taller aspect ratio really works when you’re juggling several windows and apps, giving you what feels like a lot more screen space than a 15.6-inch display without an awful lot more size and weight. You also get a crisper and more detailed picture for image editing or watching 1440p (and even 4K) streaming video. Now, last but not least, there is the bottom panel. Since the speakers are firing towards you, it is a lonely home to the ventilation grill. And the hot air is then exhausted through a vent in between the base and the lid.

The Ideapad 5 laptops are light and easy to carry around. You can get away with a 14-inch screen if you don't need a larger one, so long as you're fine with that size. There are a variety of options for the 5 Series: 13.3" QHD (2560 x 1600) display and IPS (2560 x 1600) display, both of which are capable of streaming HD content. You would be surprised at what you get, Lenovo offers the most luxurious display you'll ever see on a budget-friendly. Beautiful colors and wide viewing angles are just some of the benefits of IPS panels, which also offer lightning-fast response times and minimal input lag. A more efficient power supply, faster pixel switching, and improved image processing have made IPS popular for gaming monitors. Windows On the Go Crucially, the Ideapad Pro 16 doesn’t suffer from one of the biggest issues affecting proper gaming laptops: woeful battery life. As far as those specs go, on the AMD side, the IdeaPad Pro 5 models are available with up to AMD Ryzen 7000 Phoenix processors and up to RTX 4050 graphics from Nvidia (on the 16-inch models), while the Intel variants are built on Intel 13th-gen Raptor Lake Core H hardware with the same sort of optional graphics. We’ll know more once we get to properly tests these Lenovo laptops, somewhere toward the middle of the year. Just like the 14-inch variants, the 16-inch models are expected in stores around April-May 2023. The Intel-based IdeaPad Pro 5i will be available worldwide, including on the North American market, while the AMD Pro 5 model will only be available in Europe and Asia. The Ryzen 7 5800H isn’t one of AMD’s top drawer CPUs anymore, but it’s no slouch either. With 16GB of DDR4 to work with, it delivers good overall levels of performance in 2D business and creative apps. What’s more, this laptop has one thing those others don’t: a gaming-grade dedicated GPU. Admittedly, I’m talking about the NVIDIA RTX 3050 set to run at a maximum 55W, so you’re not getting the chip’s maximum performance, but it’s fast enough to run most games at 1080p at medium quality settings or even at high detail settings if you’re happy with a 30 to 40fps frame rate. It would be best to carry the 100W USB Type-C power adapter with you. On the other hand, it is a sufficiently big unit, which will fast charge your other PowerDelivery-enabled devices.

Although it comes in a well-known form factor at 14 inches, the new device actually has a screen ratio of 16:10. It is combined with a 2.2K or 2.8K resolution, and it should be a lot more comfortable for work than the traditional 16:9 1080p panel. The Ideapad is Lenovo’s mainstream range, and the Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro 16 looks exactly like that device, yet don’t judge this book by its cover. As the Pro implies, this is a mainstream laptop with something extra going on. We estimate Windows 11 support will end in October 2031. However, this laptop may be compatible with a future version of Windows that gets support beyond this date Thanks to its compact size and fairly lightweight design, the 14-inch device is also very portable and almost perfect as a companion for on-the-go use. Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro (14″, 2022) in the configuration we tested has a 90Hz WQXGA+ IPS panel – AUO B140QAN04.0 (AUOC391). Its diagonal is 14-inch (35.6 cm), and the resolution is 2880 x 1800 pixels. The screen ratio is 16:10, and we are looking at a pixel density of – 242 ppi, and a pitch of 0.1 х 0.1 mm. The screen turns into Retina when viewed at distance equal to or greater than 36cm (14″) (from this distance one’s eye stops differentiating the separate pixels, and it is normal for looking at a laptop).

Make sure you're one step ahead of the game. It can be difficult to keep up with the latest technological advancements when it comes to keeping up with all the latest and greatest. The immediate and long-term benefits of investing in new technology are clear. Prepare for the future with a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Series 11th Generation laptop that will last for many years to come. Obviously, gaming isn’t a focus for this laptop and our 3D benchmarks show that it doesn’t exactly excel in that department. But while playing Fortnite with no other players onscreen, the fps rises to 40-50, which looks OK on paper, but it fluctuates a lot and there are a lot of dropped frames. When things start to get heated the frame rate can drop to the low 20s, which would be considered unplayable by most people.
