About this deal

I really enjoyed reading Leap Frog by Jane Clarke and Britta Teckentrup and was, therefore, pleased to have the opportunity to review one of their other picture books.

But as I read this aloud and I kept repeating that Leon wasn't comfortable in a place where he looked different, and he just needed to find a place to blend in, it started to feel as though I was telling the kids that Leon couldn't possibly belong in a place where he stuck out like a sore thumb. Her easy writing style is hugely engaging for young readers, as she provides maximum opportunity for you to holler at the book. But I don't like the idea that Leon couldn't find contentment until he was around someone who had the same color variation as him.But sure enough, they both got together for an impossibly great recording of “Heart of Stone” included here that surely equals the classic rendition by The Pagans (that’s become the gold standard). Since 1993 Britta has written and illustrated over 120 picture books which have been translated into over 30 different languages. The band had some underground success but had difficulties because of several things such as that Neon Leon was a black rocker who wanted to follow his own musical ideas and not to do things as was common among other New York artists and groups.

For whatever reason Mum always drove Brett to the ambulance, otherwise they’d be permanently based on our front lawn. She moved to London in 1988 to study illustration and fine art at St Martin's College and the Royal College of Art. Ben’s one, and one Spring afternoon while the kids played in the garden, I heard what I assumed were the hoarse barking sounds of foxes mating. He spots something over in the corner of the page, and walks very slowly (we count to 10 across the page) to a place where there are bright orange flowers, and, can we guess?Although it is worth noting that the book is aimed at the younger end of the market and older children, even some 5 year olds, may consider the story babyish). Then, forever starving, Ben had found that ruddy berry gleaming like amber in a patch of green, and had snaffled it. The track was written by bassist Honi O’Rourke and Neon Leon, managing to distil the Max’s Kansas City era in under three minutes.

In 1976, their luck changed when they were picked by The Rolling Stones to live and work with them in London for two years. If I were to read this book to my class, I would do so for the interactive aspect and highlight that aspect.Jane enjoys visiting nurseries and primary schools, and loves animals, country walks, fossil hunts, meeting up with her sons and their families in the UK and USA, and having fun with her baby granddaughter.

In this delightful interactive book filled with vibrant neon artwork, children can help Leon on his journey by counting his steps, sending him to sleep, and giving him lots of reassurance when he's feeling down. The illustrations are nice and colourful however I'm not really sure about the message it gives to the reader. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned.I reached for a book, and would you believe, Neon Leon by Jane Clarke and Britta Teckentrup was top of the pile. This archival LP collects all of the Neon Leon 7” releases from his 1979-84 period and makes these overseas-only recordings available in the US for the first time, cementing the Neon Leon legend in the sacred halls of the US punk pantheon. I personally do not recommend the book the story-time as is, because the original text narrative promotes segregation- but most likely not on purpose. and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home (created by Random House Children's Books and published by Red Fox.
