About this deal

seconds sample memory, step multiplier, 8 voice characters, 8 effects, transpose & change scale, replace drum sounds with microtonic (sold separately) At first glance, there are quite a few buttons and controls to get to grips with. So here are some general tips and important bits that you should know: to receive via microphone: press record + sound to enter receive mode. place mic on receiving unit close to computer speaker and press destination button in microtonic to start the transfer. For our money, however, Speak is the standout of these two new POs (and possibly the whole range, to date). Created with Sonic Charge’s Magnus Lidström, who also developed the PO-32 Tonic, Speak is a vocal synth that lets users sample short chunks of audio and process these via one of eight ‘voices’.

Again, it’s in the name. The Speak is a synthesizer aimed at creating weird and wonderful vocal sounds. Sample your vocals (using the built-in microphone), and apply 1 of 8 vocal styles, plus 1 of 8 built-in effects and let the weirdness flow. It’s also got built-in transpose and scale features for tune making, as well as that cheeky micro drum kit that can be tweaked on the fly. With the PO-35 Speak, you can record your own voice or any external sound via the built-in microphone. Once recorded, you can transform and manipulate the samples using 8 different voice characters, each with its own distinct style and character. The speech synthesis engine allows you to create robotic, lo-fi, and glitchy vocal textures that add a whole new dimension to your music. Compact and Creative Freedom PO-32 Tonic - a drum machine based on the MicroTonic VST plugin made in collaboration with its developer Magnus Lidström. It has control over each part's pitch and morph (blend between two sounds). [18] Tonic can have sounds and patches replaced by data transferred from MicroTonic using the microphone/line in. [20] Its design is of people drinking at a bar and was made by Ivana Kouthoofd, the nine-year-old daughter of Teenage Engineering's CEO. [20] The PO-14 Sub is, as the name suggests, a bass synth. It has 15 built-in bass sounds to play with, as well as a nifty micro drum machine to accompany your subby fatness. You can tweak the pitch and length of each note in your 16-step pattern, as well as apply master effects to the whole thing. As with all of the models, you can save up 16 patterns of your own.

by placing all vital and sensitive components under the LCD display there's no need for an outer case. KO (PO-33)– Another sampler, but this one is more focused on being a groove box and allowing you to use your samples to make music than the PO-35, which is more focused on being able to morph and change your samples with special effects.

Instead of 16 effects, speak has 8 voice modes assignable to your samples and 8 effects. Here is a list from the manual with a short description of each: It also comes with 16 vocal type sounds to get you going, eight effects and four adjustable parameters to tweak (Start, End, Pitch and Time) so again there’s enough to twist, turn and edit. You also get 16 percussion sounds courtesy of Microtonic, accessed through sound number 16, so beats are catered for too.
