Let’s have a look at what’s inside. Iron Hands: March of Iron Strike Force Battleforce: Plunge into the fires of battle with Adrax Agatone and a solid wall of 20 resilient Intercessors. Unsurprisingly the Ultramarines option features a lot of guys on foot. While obviously a decent starter set for someone who wants to play Ultramarines, this is probably one of the harder sets to apply to a different chapter since five of the characters have lots of Ultramarines iconography on them that’s a pain to convert. Existing Space Marine players aren’t likely to get much use out of this box since Hellblasters and Intercessors are commonplace. Storm of Chogoris While not necessarily the most competitive force at the moment, Space Marines remain a fantastic way for new players to try out Warhammer 40k and a fun way for players of other factions to try out a different play style. Space Marines also feature a lot of flat surfaces that are easy to paint, so it might be a good way to try something different if you’re burned out on your current army. Of the boxed sets I would recommend the March of Iron to start with, as it includes enough models to form a Patrol detachment, the models are easily applied to any Chapter, and big stompy robots are a ton of fun. Players could also consider the Bastion Strike Force if they like the look the Gravis units. The Ravenstrike Battle Force and Storm of Chogoris are the most specialized and seem more useful to players who have a specific need to expand their existing armies. It would be great to see boxes like this readily available for each faction. Like a Start Collecting / Combat patrol “plus” box. and it would be great if they give each set a points balance across the board! As we said, there was a list of disproven rumors for this year’s Battleforces, but some of the armies included were pretty obvious, with Space Marines etc.

Another marine heavy box, but with a little less variety. we have 20 intercessors here. The Eradicators and aggressors are a bonus to that samey approach of basic marines. Salamanders: Warforged Strike Force Contents So for the lineup of Battleforce boxes in 2022, we expected to see two Imperials, two Xenos, a “Wild Card,” and hopefully some kind of Chaos, perhaps Thousand Sons or Daemons. Turns out there look to be no Xenos boxes at all! Thanks to Warhammer Community, we know there will be a whopping eight Warhammer 40k Christmas Battleforces in 2022. That is huge, as starting in 2016, there were only eight battleforces altogether for both AoS and Warhammer 40k total! The Raven Guard had none, the Imperial Fists had 2 sprues. now WarComteam did say that each of these new boxes comes with upgrade sprues, but not all of the photos reflect them being used at all. The Raven Guard favour lightning strikes, and therefore make extensive use of the streamlined Phobos armour – perfect for grabbing the last turkey and making a swift getaway.
