Flymo has a few different robotic lawn mowers available, with each one designed to cut a lawn of a specific size. This machine is the smallest and was designed for a small lawn, with a maximum cutting area of 150m² . Its 16cm cutting width is well-suited for a lawn of this size, and the cutting height ranges from 20-50mm . Unfortunately, it hasn’t been designed to make adjusting the cutting height an easy task. Rather than giving you a dial to turn, you’ll need to flip the lawn mower over, pull up some casing, and manually adjust the blade height from there.

This mower’s random pattern of mowing is governed by the SensorCut system making this mower especially good for small gardens with complex shapes or many angles. The SafePassage feature successfully guides the mower through narrow passages without bumping along the sides, as long as the passage is wider than 60cm.We found it difficult to determine the details of the scheduling programs available on many of the mowers in our review. Easier to find were software features such as those that kept the mower at home if it rained (you could override this) or if there was frost or even if rain was the only forecast. The more expensive mowers – generally for larger lawns – had more of these features.

I had my doubts about whether it would manage, but it certainly proved me wrong. For the first few days, there didn’t seem to be much of a difference, but it managed to get my lawn under control after running for about a week (this is excluding the off-days that it had due to frosty weather). Flymo recommends a common dish-brush to clean the blades and the wheels. There are three small blades, which can pivot to prevent damage if they collide with a solid object. The same cable roll is used for both the boundary and guide wires. Simply peg it down or bury it the same as the boundary wire. As with all mowers, the blades are consumables. This mower has 3 razor-type blades that pivot on the main spinning axis to allow them to recoil. It is possible to sharpen these blades — they are also easy and inexpensive to replace. These sensors help to make the mower safer when left unattended. If the mower hits an obstacle that lifts one or all the wheels from the lawn, the sensor signals the motors to stop.
