About this deal

Any damage or injury to yourself, your toothbrush or anything else is entirely your responsibility. This guide is for professional, educational usage only and is offered without guarantee or liability. Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are dangerous if short-circuited or mis-handled and can go into thermal runaway and self-ignite if you do not observe all handling and safety precautions. Tools, Parts & Equipment Dentists recommend replacing your brush head every 3 months or sooner if it becomes worn for an optimal clean. It’s possible to set the default colour of the indicator in the smartphone app – handy, if you have multiple iO brushes in the bathroom – while the pressure sensor makes its transition between blue, green and red, depending on whether you’re brushing too softly, brushing too firmly, or getting the pressure just right. Able to stand upright on a countertop, it doesn’t tend to roll all that much when laid on a flat surface either. A selling point of the iO range is the cleaner and more minimal handle design. It has what many, myself included, believe to be a premium vibe.

With our Vitality and PRO toothbrushes, it can sometimes be difficult to know when they’re correctly switched off. If they’re on the charger while switched on, they won’t charge correctly. The best thing to do is to put it on the charger for 30 minutes or so, and then try to switch it on. If it switches on, that’s great, and it was correctly switched off while charging. However, if doesn’t switch on, that might mean that it wasn’t switched off during charging.Be sure you’re charging for the full time noted in the manual. For iO series as of 7 it takes 3 hours. For iO 6, Genius and Smart range and Pro 3 it takes 12 hours. For our Vitality toothbrushes, that’s 16 hours. For the other brushes, they should be charged for up to 24 hours.

Specific heads are required for the iO4. Compared to brush heads you might be familiar with from Oral-B, they are marginally deeper. You’re looking at about a 10 percent difference. The plug on the end of the cable is a 2 pin power adapter (suitable for UK bathrooms). It will recharge the battery in up to 16 hours. For most, this won’t pose any issues, but for those with the most crowded of mouths, you might find it a little more difficult to position the round brush head. I do prefer the sensation you get with the iO4 compared to the likes of the Genius X for example. But, it isn’t worth switching to this brush for the different brushing sensation alone, it’s just a positive perk. The brush head is bigger than what you might be used to

But, equally, good toothbrushing habits does require a small amount of pressure to be applied. It’s a balance that can take some getting used to. With the iO4, striking this balance is made much easier as the brush tells you when you are doing it right and wrong. The iO4 electric toothbrush features Oral-B’s best technology, combining a dentist-inspired round brush head with micro-vibrating bristles for a professional purifying clean feel at home. The Smart Pressure Sensor helps prevent you from brushing either too hard or too softly to better protect your gums. Gum Guard alerts you to time spent brushing with too much pressure. Replace your Oral-B iO toothbrush head every 3 months for the best results. On average, they operate at 10 decibels (dB) less. The iO4 registers a maximum of 64dB. But, on the sensitive mode, it was a couple of dB quieter still. For many years a large number of Oral-B brushes have alerted users if they were brushing too hard. They do this because too much force can lead to additional and unnecessary wear on the teeth and gums.

Running repeated brushing cycles on the Series 4, the batteries drained after 1hr 38mins. Brushing twice a day for two minutes, you’re looking at roughly three-and-a-half weeks before you need a recharge. That’s not bad at all, although we’ve seen some Sonic brushes that can keep running for well over a month. Forget about fast charging, though. With the charger supplied, it’s best to charge the toothbrush overnight. Oral-B iO Series 4 review: Should I buy it? Depending on which model you have, it should take between 3 and 22 hours to fully charge the brush. If this hasn’t been your experience, there are a few things you can try. Oral-B ROUND brush heads REACH WHERE RECTANGULAR manual brushes DON'T. Experience our BEST CLEAN from Oral-B, #1 brand most used by dentists worldwide. SMART PRESSURE SENSOR signals red, white or green to alert you whether you’re brushing too hard, too softly or with just the right amount of pressure

I’ve not experienced this with the iO Series 3, which as far as I am aware has the same rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery sealed inside the handle.Expect about 18 days of use on a full charge of the iO4, assuming twice daily brushing, 2 minutes per time. Don’t fret if it takes some getting used to and you see the red light more often than you like. The motor will slow the bristle movements to further protect the teeth until such time the pressure is relieved. Oral-B’s BEST EVER CLEAN with REVOLUTIONARY iO TECHNOLOGY for a professional purifying clean feeling & gentle brushing experience All our toothbrushes apart from the Vitality and PRO 500 have a charging light. It should blink green during charging. Note that this can take up to 15 minutes to start happening if the toothbrush was entirely drained of battery during brushing. When charging is complete, the blinking should stop.
