About this deal

For portraiture it isn’t so important how flat the field is, it is more interesting to see what the sharpness is like when focused at different parts of the frame to take field curvature out of the equation. positions of crops in the frame Nice to hear, it’s a nice looking lens for sure! But I live in northern Europe (sweden) so 6 month a year it’s to dark for 5.6 🙁 For example, even the USD12,995 Leica Noctilux, for all its superb performance and known for its superb balance between sharpness wide open and characteristic rendering, comes in with an onion-ring effect in its bokeh and underwhelming sharpness at close range, at a weight of close to 800 grams. The TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 shows pincushion distortion with a wavy sub frequency. To correct this we would need a lens specific profile which is not available (yet). This lens will be reviewed on the 42mp Sony A7rII and the 24mp Leica M10. When we buy cheap item, we dont only something of low value, we buy something which kills our economy!!! Which return we have from this big bully? Just bully. On the nature of ultra-fast lenses, some will argue that there is little point to investing in one if you’re not going to shoot it full throttle all day and live your best max. ap. life. Bro, the TTA all but eliminates this consideration; you can have an extra stop or two and only use it when your art demands it. I have made a short research. This is impossible for a western lens maker to be under the Leica Price for the Noctilux new versus, Japanese Manufacturer such as Cosina-Voigtlander should be capable to produce such a lens for nearly 3000~4000 US dollar. My hypothesis are about the TT lens are, they :As a consequence of your camera nerdery, you may have acquired a fetish for so called “ultra-fast” prime lenses, such as the Canon “Dream” lens, or one of the most widely lusted after and expensive examples, the Leica Noctilux 50mm 0.95 Thanks for the review. Would you be able to elaborate the differences with the TTArtisan 35mm f0.95 and the 7Artisans 35mm f0.95? I am torn between the two and would love to hear the pros and cons of these two. Thank you! From the outer apperance this looks very much like a Leica M lens including the famous red dot. Markings are yellow/white (engraved and filled with paint) focus ring has perfect resistance and turns about 120° from the minimum focus distance of 0.7 m to infinity. On the copy I’ve gotten the indices use a different font. It’s more angular, it’s still different from Leica, but I think it’s a significant improvement. Your pictures Niks look like one of the World Press Photo 2021 for which I have made a google translation “A Buddhist temple occupies one half of a mountain, while the other was carved by the mining industry, in Hpakant, Kachin State, Myanmar, July 15, 2020. – HKUN LAT, MYANMAR

Overall the image quality is similar to its sibling, the TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 but I think the 50mm is slightly better and I found the 7Artisans f/0.95 to have better performance when shot wide open with a more pleasing bokeh and a character I liked.

Let us take a closer look at the technical details before going into how it performs. technicalities

So sorry, I mean this 50mm is a 65mm for the Leica M8, according to the 1.3 x crop factor. It creates a confusion for full frame user we want a real 50mm or a real 65 mm (mostly a 75mm in this case for framelines) with long term relaibility. Have you test it with film because a lot of here are mostly film users, also if they use digital cameras ? Thanks. At wider apertures these values are comparable to the dreadful Zenitar 50mm 0.95 E and about 1.5 EV worse compared to the Zhong Yi 50mm 0.95 E-mount lenses. Hi again my friend! I’m sure I have heard you mention the Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 and I’ve used the Sony version and it was really a very very excellent lens. Let me sift around for a Zeiss 35/1.4 for M mount

APS-C 35mm F0.95 Lens can be used on the following cameras:

Still, for some a very nice bokeh rendering can easily make up for shortcomings in these areas, so let us have a closer look what the TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 has in store for us. Whereas the 35mm is light, compact, and ergonomically superior, the 50mm f/0.95 is a beastly, viewfinder crowding, carpal-tunnel-inducing tank of a lens.

Some really good “pop” from those images Curtis. Some of the best samples I’ve seen from this lens. Some reviewers have not been too favourable on the Voigtlander. I have to admit that the bokeh is probably a little busy and less creamy compared to some other lenses but I have to say that it doesn’t distract from it being a great lens. I might think of adapting it to my Z7. 🙂 This comparison was done at 0.7 m focus distance, you may get slightly different results at other distances. Sharpness infinity (42mp Sony A7rII) This may be due to the difficulty of making an f/0.95 lens for the small M-mount bayonet, but it may also be the case that the image circle of this lens is slightly too small. TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 MCenter and corners look very similar to what we have seen on the E-mount camera, the midframe looks about 2 stops better though (meaning f/2.0 on M10 looks comparable to f/4.0 on Sony A7rII). On the tactile front, there is something very pleasing about the TTArtisan 35mm f/0.95 and I will wrap this up with a couple of wishes/suggestions. As mentioned above the aperture ring is very easily moved out of position. It has the same amount of friction as the focus ring and the same grooves. A few times I actually mistook it for the focus ring. Hi Bram, it is best to explain what I mean using some sample photos I have taken: JPG links here: http://curtispatterson.com/Voigtlander50mm12asphVM_NikonZ6/
