The 45W USB-C port charges a wide range of devices at high-speed. Charge a MacBook Pro 13ʺ (2020) in 2.25 hours, an iPhone 11 Pro or iPad Pro 12.9ʺ (2020) in just over 2 hours, or a Samsung S20 in less than 1.5 hours. Our pioneering use of gallium nitride (GaN) means we can create some of the smallest chargers on the planet, without compromising power. As with the 45W model, we connected the Anker 312 (Ace, 25W) to the multimeter. The charger drew 24.37W of power until the battery level reached 44% and gradually lowered its power output afterwards. The Samsung adapter started off at 21W and slowly worked its way up to 23.26W. The 41% mark was reached after 21 minutes, and then the power output began dropping, but at a slightly slower pace than on the Anker charger. If you’re looking for a single charger (and are okay with charging only one device at a time) this may be it. And those desiring that with a Samsung or other Android which supports PPS should definitely go with this charger over a “regular” 45W option. USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is one of the fast-charging standards that has gained much recognition over the last few years. It comes from the folks responsible for maintaining the USB standard: USB Implementers Forum or USB-IF. USB PD is excellent, and its latest Extended Power Range (EPR) specification supports up to 240W of power to mobile devices through the USB standard. That said, EPR chargers and cables are still a few years away from widespread availability. You’ll see that numerous chargers claim to support various fast charging standards, but they vary in capability, so beware of pretenders. Some provide 45W PPS charging or more, while others cap at 25W. Not all support Samsung's crucial Super Fast Charging 2.0 protocol, which is necessary for phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Therefore, when selecting a charger, ensure it delivers the required power for optimal device charging.
