While I can admire the neatness of the grass verge, that is a week in week out job that benefit no-one or nature. The garden spilling out is lovely and if she lets the more native and natural plants take over it will revert to being a wildflower patch as she loses the urge or the ability to maintain it in the future, so no harm done and beauty and activity enjoyed. Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast walk passes close by and there are several lovely walks in the peaceful little known Calder Valley nearby. Also "The Expert" by Bernard Knight. One of the seven of his old crime fiction books reprinted from the 1960s. This one was actually readable compared to some of the others. When I wrote this in my Book of Books Read I discovered that I'd read one of hers before, a long time ago.... "The Honours Board". I might have a look at some of this authors other titles. I'd have known about the delays involved due to the Equity Release company's loan on the bungalow, I still would have gone ahead as the bungalow will suit me fine and other things that are for sale are either too big/small/expensive. Welcome to Felicity, LJL and Cherie who are new followers and thank you everyone for comments on posts last week and to Briony who said she loved the blog, plus W at MidSuffolkMeadow who reminded me of another good charity shop that I will be visiting frequently once we move.

Next I'll be re-reading a couple more of Angela Thirkells books unless I go and collect another of the British Library Crime Classics which is now on the reservation shelf for me or even better, "Death of Kings" the 5th and new Rennie Airth book in his Inspector John Madden historical crime series. There is a three year gap since he wrote the 4th so I've forgotten all about the character but I know they are well written. I hope I've not moaned too much in blogland about the silly delays in this house move. Have to look at it this way................................. We were trying to be helpful by letting her choose completion date, now I'm getting just a tad annoyed. Typical! was my thought on Monday morning when I felt the en-suite radiator and found it stone cold, that was after I'd looked out of the bedroom window and seen the ice on the car windscreen. I pulled on some clothes, coat and hat and went to the garage to look at the boiler - yep - low pressure light was on and, Thank Heavens, that's the one boiler problem I've learned how to solve in my 2½ years here.

A staircase leads off from the dining area to the first-floor bedrooms. The master double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the further double bedroom has double doors opening out onto the Juliet balcony looking out to the garden. The rug I'd found on their online catalogue wasn't so good in real life (which is something we often find!) but there was another smaller one much nicer, so we left a bid on it. The book below kept appearing up on my "recommended for you list", it sounded intriguing and I knew who I could pass it on to after reading. The nearest town is Egremont (2 miles) where there are shops and garage facilities. The historical west coast town of Whitehaven is 15 minutes away.
