About this deal

The way this book was planned really played to the strength of the plot , the characters’ personalities and pain. As mentioned in the synopsis, the characters share an intimate night with one another and part ways immediately only to meet again at a summer camp as colleagues. The large part of the plot is the characters healing, revealing their scars and painting galaxies around them and finding beauty in one another and themselves; however , there’s a subtler underlying theme that Grace talks about that takes up a lot of the emotional real estate in the book. The breakthrough moments we witness within that theme were sometimes hard to believe and I loved that Grace writes them that way.

Aurora is hilarious first of all. I would have had the exact same reaction if I felt something touch my foot in any body of water lol There were parts of Rory and her relationship with her dad that also made me feel seen. It’s rare I think to be able to relate so much to both the FMC and the MMC on something so closely related. I think that just goes to show how amazing of a writer Hannah Grace is. There’s also a scene where Jenna is telling Rory that “dad” is just a word without any action behind it and it was definitely an emotional conversation for me to read. Rory is just all around an amazing character. Both characters have flaws and both are broken and traumatized by their parents who’d failed them, but Rory and Russ end up finding solace in one another despite their imperfections.stars. Whoops might of gone and finished this in a day! I was so excited to read this after finishing Icebreaker earlier this year. I wasn't a fan of Icebreaker and DNF'd it at 20% because the FMC was insufferable. When Wildfire released, I was on the fence about giving the author another go, but as always was influenced by the social media powers that be. I didn't hate this one, but I also know I'll never read it again. It was a whole lot of nothing and everything at the same time if that makes any sense. I don't know if the author is just trying too hard with her characters to make them seem relatable, but it was almost cringe worthy. The FMC was a romance book lover who points out at one stage early on that they're being the miscommunication trope and I nearly put the book down there and then. Instead I pushed through and finished it. I won't say too much else since I think it's important people form their own opinions about this, but personally I don't think these books are for me. And don’t get me started on the things that came out of Russ’s mouth!! Holy Dooley is it hot in here or what 🫠 We started off the book seeing everyone that we met in Icebreaker which was lovely, I always love seeing how people are doing throughout a series.

As the summer unfolds, the tension between them intensifies. Russ doesn’t want to risk breaking the camp’s strict ‘no staff fraternising’ rule but, unfortunately for him, Aurora has never been very good at caring about rules. Will the two learn to peacefully co-exist? Or did their one night together start a fire they can’t put out? Looking at her makes me want to be the funniest guy in the room, so I can be the one to make her laugh.” You’re my favorite,” I whisper, leaning in to kiss her flushed cheek. “Even if I had crab hands?” “Even if you had crab hands, Anastasia.” My god I don’t know what Hannah Grace is putting in her books but I’m completely addicted!!! I absolutely LOVE Icebreaker and was worried this one wouldn’t be as good because it was set at a summer camp so I thought the amazing friend group from Icebreaker would be missing. I’m so happy that not only was that not the case (I swear I giggled every time Henry made an appearance because I’m so obsessed with him) but we also get some amazing new friends with Xander and Emilia. I honestly kinda hope we get a Xander book someday in the future. All the people we know and love from UCMH are still so involved in this story because they all love Russ so much and of course have their usual shenanigans lolSame with Russ' brother Ethan... he was a horrible person and then no closure at the end for Russ? Not even a satisfying scene where Russ gets to yell at him or something? Hated it. After reading and devouring Icebreaker earlier in the year, I was not so patiently waiting for Russ’ story and my oh my, did I fall in love with this gorgeous guy! 🥹 My original review had tons more (well deserved) praise for the book but now I'm on a time crunch, 'cause I'm doing this at work, so this will have to do. I found this book to be an extremely easy read with lots of laughter thrown in. I’m looking forward to book 3 now to see what happens to this friendship group next. Like Icebreaker, I really enjoyed the friendships between everyone, they all got on great and had so much respect for each other.
