About this deal

This graphic novel is going to be published by First Second publisher and will be considered a great read for the reading age range between 7 – 10 years and grade level 2 – 3. The story is hilarious, there are so many laugh-out-loud and snort-inducing moments, and the drawings are perfect. With its rampant good-natured goofiness and its unrelenting fizz and pep, this feels like a sugar rush manifested as a graphic novel. Silly and inventive fast-paced fun. John:Comic books are my favorite way of telling stories, because they combine pictures and words in a way that enhances and elevates the experience. So that’s why I read them, and I think other people will enjoy them as well. This book will appeal to all but you can easily see how it could be a stepping stone for those who struggle to engage with reading and it may just help them light their reading fire. Can the Mango and Brash unravel this maritime mystery before a second ship befalls a similarly unfathomable fate? Seas the day and find out in this new nautical adventure! My six year old nephew would not put this book down. As in we had to pry it from his fingers at one point to take a break. According to him, “you don’t need any sort of learning apps to read, you just need to find the right book.” This book has helped him get excited about reading and he definitely has the reading bug now. We can’t wait for more books in this series to be released! My 2 sons and I have been loving those books for the last few years and we always laugh so much at Mango and Brash’s puns and crazy ideas!I think I might dislike this one more than I did the previous installment. Sure, the last one used too many fourth-wall breaks, but it still fit well. It just needed a few tweaks. must buy, whatever your rating system is this book smashes it and is something that should be in all KS2 classrooms as far as I’m concerned. Absolutely hilarious and fantastic book. Investigators has become a good new series to look out for and we simply can't wait to continue the story. My son and I went through the whole book in one sitting. Mango was my son’s favourite as he was extremely funny. The book has great design and vibrant colourful pictures. The puns and jokes are spot on If your young reader is looking for something to fill a Dogman-shaped hole in their personal libraries, let alligator investigators Mango and Brash step in. With a detailed comic-strip format, lots of toilet humour and zany plot lines, you will be pestered for the sequel before it's published.

Fast, fabulous, and fantastically funny, the InvestiGators books are instant classics! Filled with amazing action (and some extraordinarily good puns), our heroes race from one calamity to the next in their efforts to solve dastardly crimes. You won't find many comic books more exciting, more imaginative, or more gloriously silly than these, so let the InvestiGators splash, squark, and ka-BOOM their way onto your bookcase! Another major issue that I really, REALLY hope won't become a trend is Mango's decrease in intelligence. Okay, it's not that bad, but this book's Mango can be quite the child at times. And I know that's kind of his character, in a way. A bit childish, a bit goofy, and a bit dumb. But that's what makes his breakthroughs all the more memorable. It gives him a spotlight. Simply bursting with youthful energy, crazy comedy, vibrant artwork and breathtaking creativity, InvestiGators is a visual and verbal delight… and guaranteed to please even the most reluctant reader! There are so many puns that it can be a little much at times, but I suspect that kids would not catch all of them, and they and the malapropisms are definitely used as teachable moments for early and developing readers.Join Mango and Brash, alligator secret agents, as they fight crime, save the day and go undercover . . . in a bakery? FCBD: What are some of the core themes present in your book? What do you hope readers take away from your title? Here, Mango's entire purpose is to play off of the puns or point out the beginning of one. The moment he asked or questioned something, I could immediately tell it would result in a pun. Honestly, he was asking about so much that I would not be surprised if, at the end, someone, somehow, swapped the bodies of Mango and a seven-year-old. When I told my 10 year old he could help me review an InvestiGators book before anyone could buy it he practically jumped out of his skin in excitement. The 10 year old says that he loved the humor throughout the book and the mystery with the twist at the end. My 14 year old says that the plot line is funny and entertaining. He loves the play on words. My 7 year old loves InvestiGators because they are funny, Mango is his favorite character. My creative team (my 14, 10, and 7 year old boys and myself) really enjoyed the opportunity to read the advance copy of this book. Here is our honest review:

John:This book mostly focuses on being selfish versus treating others right and fairly. But hopefully readers at least enjoy the silly antics and jokes! Armed with a moustache and a rolling pin, the Investigators need to work together to find out who has kidnapped top chef Gustavo, and stop his recipes getting into the wrong hands! John:Classic pirate stories were the biggest inspiration. Plus, a certain dangerous slide from Action Park. John:Aw man, I don’t really have a favorite! My tastes change a lot over time. But one I will always remember having a big impact on me as a kid was Garfield: His Nine Lives. It had different Garfield stories by different writers and artists and it showed me that with comics there are pretty limitless possibilities for telling all sorts of adventures with familiar characters, and they can be put in different genres and art styles. Has heaping helpings of surreal alligator action and wordplay gags to keep new readers bent on solving the mystery.
