About this deal

Lucy has reviewed a wide range of baby bouncers over the years, as has used them with her own children, and as such is well versed to recognise the key features that are beneficial to parents. With a seat width of around 45cm, the Hoopla is relatively spacious to accommodate your baby as they grow. How safe and stable is the Chicco Hoopla? The Chicco Hoopla Bouncer is a simple product with enough little features to make parents feel it is worth the money. Winner of the Mother&Baby Gold Award in 2014, it still stands the test of time, whether your baby wants to bounce away, or just placed down to lay comfortably in the fixed position. As it can be stored flat, it is also possible to transport it, meaning your baby can have bouncy fun with toys wherever they go. Chicco Hoopla Bouncer Cheapest Price Most baby bouncers can be used from birth but may not be suitable for premature or low-birthweight babies. It has five motions and speeds to choose from. You’ll also find four built-in sounds, an adjustable recline and a toy bar to offer extra stimulation. While it’s suitable from birth to 9kg, you may find it doesn’t last longer than the six-month mark. Our parent tester Luci says, “My 11-day old (9lb 13oz) newborn is taking up three quarters of the seat already.” With that said, the hefty price tag may not be worth it for you if you only plan to use the bouncer occasionally.

Extras: Decide whether you want a basic seat or one with fun extras like toys, music, lights, and vibrations to soothe and entertain your baby. She considered how entertaining and soothing any toys, music, lights, or vibrations were. Luci also marked the bouncer on how big it was and whether it was portable. The padding material of the Chicco Hoopla is made of polyester. For cleaning purposes, it is recommended to hand wash the product. The Chicco Hoopla comes with safety and assembly instructions, with 24 pictures to outline the key steps. Luci felt that some of the steps were over-explained or unclear. She says, “The instructions could do with being simplified to make them clearer. Assembly should have been very simple but the instructions made it look like there was much more to do.” To ensure our testing is fair, we ask one tester to use all of the products in their own home. This reduces any potential variables in the testing process and ensures that our results are based on a like-for-like comparison. This was seconded by Mumsnet users too. Pinktruffle found the Chicco Hoopla to be “really cosy - my little one lives it” and cardboard33 says, “My baby would be in it 24/7 if we let him - it's very padded and he feels safe as it hugs his head.” Does it have any extra features?

Ensure you follow the manufacturer's guidelines about weight and height restrictions for your product. As a busy mum of two young children, now aged eight and six, she knows just how important first-hand parenting knowledge can be, and she draws on her own experiences when writing about baby essentials, toys, health, money and lifestyle. She has also written for Prima Baby, Woman’s Own and Bella. Parent tester Luci found her baby to be content and comfortable in the Chicco Hoopla baby bouncer. She particularly liked the soft and cosy insert and continued to use this as her baby grew, adding extra padding and support to her baby’s head. Make sure harness straps are always done up, even if you are only putting your baby in the seat for a couple of minutes.

What’s the Chicco Hoopla like to use day-to-day?

How easy it is to clean: Babies can be messy so ideally look for a seat that has a removable, machine-washable cover. Also ensure that the straps, frame, and toys can be cleaned too.

Our tester, Luci, has a five-year-old and a four-month-old who was just two weeks old when testing started. She used each model for at least a week in her busy three-bedroom mid-terrace home. The Chicco Hoopla requires minimal assembly before use. It took our parent tester Luci seven minutes to set up the bouncer without any assistance. All the necessary parts are included in the box, with no additional tools, such as screwdrivers, needed for assembly. Luci found the most challenging and fiddly part to be squeezing the fabric bobbles through the toy bar to attach the toys. Luci liked the simple, but attractive, design of the Hoopla bouncer with a cosy cushion insert that offers additional support for smaller babies. She says, “The main fabric is more durable but the soft insert makes it feel more baby-friendly. I would keep it in as long as possible.”
