Ryūji and Taiga observe Minori playing at the softball field and later decorating cellphones for her classmates, much to Ryūji's amazement. After being greeted by his hungover mother in the morning, Ryuuji goes to school and is happy to find that he gets to be in the same class as his best friend, Yuusaku Kitamura, and crush, Minori Kushieda. After Ryuji meets Taiga Aisaka, he often helps her with domestic chores, and develops a new reputation as the "only person able to stop the Palmtop Tiger" as well as having to fend off rumors that the two might be a couple. A visual novel based on the series was released in April 2009 by Bandai Namco Games for the PlayStation Portable. However, he unexpectedly runs into "the school's most dangerous animal of the highest risk level"—Taiga Aisaka—who just happens to be Minori's best friend.also has a bunch of supporting characters who would possibly make an appearance in Season 2, like classmates Kōji, Hisamitsu, Maya, and Sumire, among others.

As the gang go through the cave, Ami pulls Ryuji aside and questions whether he is compatible with Minori, and that she would be a better choice. Takasu Ryuuji is a gentle boy who does all the cooking and cleaning in his house, unfortunately he is cursed with his father's scary looking face. In the storyline where she is trying to evade a stalker, she ends up depending on Ryuji and Taiga, although the latter blackmails her using footage of Ami's singing and reciting a list of Pokémon.

While he looks intimidating, he is actually a very kind and selfless guy, and takes care of his mother and his friends. She is capable in cooking and cleaning as a result of her part-time jobs as well as taking care of her little brother while both her parents work.

Ryūji later catches up with Minori, and Taiga provides an opportunity for the two to start talking again. During his time as the vice-president of the student council, he eventually falls in love with the student council president, Sumire Kanō. Ami Kawashima ( 川嶋 亜美, Kawashima Ami ) Voiced by: Eri Kitamura(Japanese); Erika Harlacher (English) [8] [9] Ami is Yusaku's childhood friend who transfers into his class midway through their second year of high school. Voiced by: Kana Asumi Sakura is Sumire's younger sister who attends the same high school as Sumire though her grades are horrible.

Voiced by: Sayaka Ōhara Yasuko is Ryūji's thirty-three-year-old mother, though she refers to herself as eternally twenty-three; she has large, F-cup-sized breasts. The first bound volume was released on February 27, 2008 under ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Comics imprint; the second followed on January 27, 2009. In the bonus chapter, Ryuji and his guy classmates play President; Yusaku loses and has to ask the girls what color panties they wear.
