About this deal

I'm using ML-L7 remotes with my Z7II and Z30 for a two-camera documentary video shoot (two angles, talking heads on green screen). I'm a one man operation and it's so convenient to use these little BT remotes to start/stop recording from a distance and without having to touch the cameras. (I don't need to adjust settings between takes - just wanting to remotely start/stop the cameras at approx. the same time. I'm able to sync the two cameras in Davinci Resolve using waveforms.) This is just way too annoying to use for a full photo session. Kind of fun for experiments or a few images at a time. It should work fine with the Z8 as well. I was arguing with a Nikon rep yesterday at Unique Photo why Z9 ( and now Z8) can't support ML-L7. MC-DC2 wired remote — A simple wired remote. Lower cost versions of this solution exist, such as the Vello RS-N2II. Wireless versions are also available.

I see people online have figured out the optical signals for the Creative Lighting System, another thing that would be fun to do with microcontrollers. The camera can be paired with only one remote controller at a time. It can only be used with the controller with which it was most recently paired. Delete Wireless Remote Controller I am using Nikon's ML-3 receiver/transmitter on my Z9 which works fine but I would suggest this one from Vello ML-L7 wireless remote — A remote with additional programmable functions and controls. The Coolpix P1000 can also use this remote. Select [ Wireless remote (ML-L7) options] > [ Wireless remote connection] > [ Enable] in the camera setup menu and press J.I'm not sure what I need for the Z6 ii to make this work so if someone is able to let me know or give some tips/recs, that would be appreciated. The Z30, Z50, Zfc, and Zf don't have a dedicated remote connection. Nikon has made a special Bluetooth type remote control for the Z30, Z50, Zfc, and Zf:

The worst thing is that it drops the wifi connection if I do anything else on the phone. Even just minimizing the app will drop the wifi. Or turning off the phone display with the power button. I love a BT remote on my OM-1 and it make no sense for Nikon to not support ML-L7 in higher end bodies. But even Nikon's people have no idea why it is not supported. 🤷‍♂️ Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements andoptically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect theimagery. Edit2: upon further testing, when the remote mode is turned on, the camera doesn't get updated gps and UTC time data. Instead keeps on recording the last read data on new photos. This is a bug that needs fixing. But the Exit time stamps are correct. The 4K 24 looks great from the Z7II and Z30 - I'm shooting in controlled studio lighting on tripods. But the idea of being able to shoot in 8K and crop in post is quite appealing for a project like this. The Z8 fits that bill. Seems trivial perhaps, but the convenience of these small BT remotes has spoiled me.The camera and remote control will start pairing. In the meantime, the remote control status lamp flashes at about 0.5 second intervals. BF-N1 Body Cap: The body cap prevents dust entering the camera when no lens is in place. Viewfinder eyepiece accessories Miops Camera Trigger — Directly supports the 10-pin and MC-DC2 connector cameras, and has lightning, laser, and sound triggers, as well. More extensive capabilities, but more expensive. ME-W1 Wireless Microphone: A wireless Bluetooth microphone. Use the ME-W1 for off-camera recording.
