About this deal

By the way, you can get a lot of inspiration from these these cool ready-made transformer costumes!) I also wanted my son to have a mask and gloves for when he transforms into Bumblebee but we were sadly sold out of the Bumblebee Mask. Instead, I painted this Ant-Man mask and it came out great. I also used a pair of these toddler gloves so that my son’s hands would be covered. Final Thoughts The second and most important element of the transformer costume is the hood and doors. The reason that this part is so important is that the hood and doors make up the main and most crucial transformation elements. When creating this part, make sure that all transformation action is sound before moving on (test multiple times). I’ve been seeing a few DIY converting Transformers Bumblebee costumes around the internet for a while now. Recently my son has been obsessed with Bumblebee from Transformers and while there’s always the option of buying the transforming Bumblebee costume, I decided to attempt to make the costume for him. I’m happy to report that my attempt ended up looking pretty decent. I did make the costume on the fly and eyeballed everything so there are no measurements. So this is going to be less of a tutorial and more of a guide if you want to make a DIY converting Transformers Bumblebee costume of your own. DIY Converting Transformers Bumblebee Costume

I just took some styrofoam and carved and sanded it into the shape i wanted. then covered it in craft foam. (pic 4 + 5) Make a cylinder out of cardboard that will hug the bottle top and is wide enough for your mini mag light to fit into. Then cut directly into the fender of the foot and glue in the cylinder. take the bottle cap and cut out the top. replace it with some blue acetate. you should be able to put the mag light in and out of the cylinder and close it with the bottle cap. (pic 4, Fig 2) At this point in the process, your costume's basic form and transformation action is completely finished (yay!), but you still have to make the heart and soul of the costume: the exterior look. This step will include creating the grille, hood, fenders, and roof. For this step, I cannot really give any measurements, as everything I did was based on visual appeal as I was going. First thing’s first, let’s take a look at my completed DIY Converting Transformers Bumblebee Costume.

Head Shot wrote:for the people complaining about the wrong head, go make yourself a better full body, fully transforming bee costume then.

To make the headlights, cut off the top of your soda bottle. basically you need the portion that the cap screws into. (pic 4, Fig 1)Besides they repainted the prime helmet because that helmet came out before the bumblebee helmet, theyve probably been using that costume for awhile at that dealership, and the helmet has a voice changer to make the guy inside sound more robotic for talking.

For the rear bumper, trunk, and roof, I kept it as all one piece and only scored it in certain places so that it would fold the right way. I used the entire length of my foam board. Starting on one end, I measured for the height of the rear bumper, which is the same as the height of the front bumper, and I scored it on the top of the board so it would bend down. Next I made a line for the length of my trunk, which I eyeballed about 4 inches. Here I scored underneath the board so that I could fold it up. The rest of the piece would be used for the roof of the car. Rear Side Panels We added squares to each side for shoulders. they do not have a top at this point in time. we added 2 styrofoam squares to have the shoulder lid rest there. (pic 1) To wear the thighs, you need a belt around your waist. put on the thighs and then use the string to tie them to the belt. This way, they do not fall when you are walking around. The next foamular part is the area below the grille. This area is much easier as you will not need to shape or sand the pieces. All you need to do is simply cut out pieces to cover the area below the grill, keeping a small rectangle at bottom, and glue them on the same way (pic #11 for reference). The hood is pretty straight forward. I matched the length of the hood to the length of the hood that I had already made on my front side panel. As far as the width, I just put the board up against my son and made sure it was wider than him and he had a little space on either side. The front part of the hood comes to a point (although if it were straight across, it wouldn’t be a big deal). There will always be negative whiners, on all of the boards, but the positive folks far outweigh on here. add an additional strip around the bottom of the thigh so that the calf piece and be attached to it. (pic 2,A)

I also decided to add details and add a fender for these wheels. The details for the costume really make it. Remember that you don't have to get it right on the first time; if you are using pencil you can sketch over it and erase if it looks bad. Before painting I drew in the details in pencil to make it a little easier. Also, you don’t have to, but if you want it to look a little cleaner, this is where you want to fill in any large gaps between your pieces before painting.Bumblebee’s calf is just a rectangle. It is just slightly wider than the strip underneath the thigh.
