About this deal

Another important difference between the US versions of Brut Splash On and Brut AS is the alcohol content. I think a lot of people will have similar memories of this being one of the first fragrances they encountered. By steps, and to start with, Brut is possibly- as many from the X generation- a first memory, an imprinting feel hardwired in the collective imaginary. This was the quintessential perfume for male, beloved son of a grand French tradition, conjuring lush undertones as from the bois in the outskirts of Paris (please have a walk in a French Forest and you will understand). Distilled from extracting genial ideas and discernment from Karl Mann, and Cary Grant’s commitment, casted an aura of refinement and became music for the masses, without losing charme - and this as the middle class and the bourgeoisie spirit was well alive in the ‘60es and decades thereafter, and a cologne could have been niche while widely distributed. This is for sure part of the spell. The ladies could immediately identify it as archetypical Fougere male odour, and men use it with confidence as signature- so personal while so well distributed and accessible. Brut was the most popular fragrance for a lot of men of this period as it smelled well but was cost effective, It had particularly good appeal for a part of the world with economic problems among other things. The likes of Davidoff and Aramis would have been seen as a luxury item for a society just getting by financially.

That fresh pop of lavender, mint, lemon, followed by delicate ylang, patchouli, spicy geranium, and white floral powder is catnip to me, which I guess puts me in league with the millions of men who loved Brut before me. Ladies, you may or may not find the smell of Brut sexy, but let me say this: we men feel like we're on our A-game when we wear it. We're cooler, calmer, and totally collected. If that's not sexy, then perhaps sex, like God, is dead. But I think you girls do, in fact, find the Brut effect sexy, and this is how this fragrance has managed to stay in business for so long. Elvis wore it, for pete's sakes. Remember, the exact price you’ll pay depends on where you are in the world, but the following are pretty reasonable estimates. It’s about our first date. Or the first kiss. The high school years. Or the first driving hour. The first beer. Or the first cigarette. The years of becoming A MAN. One of the most noticeable differences between Brut Splash On and Brut After shave (or Brut AS for short), is that the aftershave contains menthol, whereas the Splash On does not. However, if you’re looking for the most cost-effective option, technically it would be better to go for Brut Splash On.

Brut Splash-On Lotion Original 200ml

There's a very soft but pronounced muskyness with a very thin green tone underneath, that wraps the whole composition, this musky blanket is the soul of great BRUT. I had to wait a long time to review Brut, not that I dislike it or anything, but because I had to learn how to distance myself from it.

In summary, then, Brut Splash On is theoretically more likely to have a longer-lasting scent compared with Brut Aftershave. This scent HAS been changed somewhat over the years (and has added the foul and totally unnecessary flanker, Brut Musk, as well as some pretty decent flankers), but Brut is still one of the very best inexpensive "macho male" fragrances. My Dad tried it, but my Mom liked it on him more than he liked it on himself (he was pretty much an Old Spice guy), so I swiped his bottle and used it! It was my first experience using male scent, and it smelled great on me! I think the coumarin and anise are what makes Brut different and delightful. The reason people often say that the Brut Splash On scent is a more subtle scent compared with Brut Aftershave, is actually due to the increased alcohol content in the Splash On which makes it last longer on the skin but dilutes the scent itself.Coming to the recent Brut- this is not a pale copy of the past! Unilever did a formidable job and I deem it very much depends more on the olfactory context we dwell in. Although that’s the short answer, let’s go through the main differences between these two variations of fragrance in more detail, and also go through how to choose between them. My first memories of perfume (or anything else) take me to a long time ago, I remember just a few things of that time, and one is that green plastic bottle of Brut. It was designed to be shaken with energy, so a few drops reach you. My father never liked any perfume, so the bottle became some kind of toy to me. The memory of the ylang-ylang - sandalwood chord still make me feel good.

So which product you choose largely depends on what you are looking for when it comes to the function of your fragrance. 3. Application

But what i do like is the scent of BRUT! its creamy, green & balmy kinda ambery in the drydown its almost a dreamy scent! Thank you dearly beloved Fragrantica team for finally adding Brut to the directory. You've really made my day. Fougéres are my 'bread and butter' fragrances. I have three natural artisan ones, and own six different profiled ones from an assortment of brands. Ranging from mostly traditional and aromatic. The reference points are well known, and I'm obsessed with the family. After 10 minutes later from the first spray , the scent faded more soft a bit sweeter there as well from the vanila ı guess that actually kind of soapy clean fresh barber style ı can say .
