About this deal

Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments The day had arrived for the Dog’s Summer Ball. All the dogs in the world were lined up at the hall. Where a sign on the door said: Illustrated with beautiful simplicity, written with verve – and is like nothing else you’ll read this year.” (Benjamin Secher The Daily Telegraph)

Written in rhyming verse with the most engaging illustrations this very funny picture storybook is sure to raise a giggle every time it is read!Basically the plot explains why dog's sniff each other's bottoms. I won't say more than that, but it is hilarious. The fact that some parents might find it crude and disturbing adds to the experience! The day has arrived for the Dogs' Summer Ball. It's so high class that each dog must remove their bottom before they are allowed inside the hall. But in the middle of all the frivolity something unexpected happens and the dogs have to make a hasty exit...with or without the correct bottom! About This Edition ISBN: Initially thought this book was totally bonkers but now it's one of my all time favourites!! So funny and silly and great pace.. our 3 year old absolutely loves it and so do we! urn:oclc:record:1124412734 Foldoutcount 0 Identifier greatdogbottomsw0000bent Identifier-ark ark:/13960/s26xxmxcfwf Invoice 1652 Isbn 9781842709887

Inspired by living close to the sea, Peter’s first book for Macmillan was the terrifically toothy The Shark in the Dark. Staying with the watery theme, Peter Bently has employed his trademark humour and mastery of rhyme once again to the fun-filled Cats Ahoy! Mei is the daughter of a Japanese father and British mother. Born in Tokyo and moving to England at 11, she studied illustration and animation at Kingston University, London. She is an author and illustrator of picture books, mainly aimed at pre-school age children. Her stories explore serious/educational subjects, but vary in tone from comical to thought-provoking and often manifest a world embodying animals or non-human characters. It all began at the Dog’s Summer Ball, a highbrow affair with bow ties and tails…but bottoms, yes those little o-rings were hung up at the door! The story begins at a doggy ball- where the dogs are asked to hang their bottoms up before they sit for dinner- naturally the kiddies in my class were amused by the notion of bums hanging on hooks! Halfway through the story there is an unfortunate incident and a great fire- the dogs make a dash for it- but all end up grabbing the wrong bottom! Hence why they dogs now sniff each other- to see if they can find their bottom from that very night! Quite early on, I could see what the customer found uncomfortable to see, (I too raised an eyebrow and went "eeww" when I realised what the little pink rings were. At first I thought they were cloakroom number tags or something!) I thought the bottoms would be a little bit more than that... but I suppose, if they were more, like their tail and legs etc. then the ending wouldn't have fit would it? Kids will love this, and answers that age old question of why dogs stiff each others bottoms when they meet. Reminds me very much of a poem that my Grandfather used to recite to me. This lively rhyming tale is reportedly taken from an older folk story. The clever visual layout and amusing artwork from award winning illustrator Mei Matsuoka will bring smiles to children, dog lovers and art appreciators alike.
