M31, it became clear that the Emperor and Terra endured, thanks in large part due to the visions of Sanguinius and the captive Curze. The Triumvirate of Imperium Secundus decided to abandon their project, which many now considered redundant and heretical. Imperium Secundus was abolished and its territories were once again declared part of the Realm of Ultramar under the Regency of Valentus Dolor. Guilliman, Sanguinius, and Lion El'Jonson led the bulk of their respective legions through the Ruinstorm in hopes of reaching Terra and aiding the Emperor in his final struggle, though ultimate only Sanguinius and the Blood Angels would succeed in this. [5] Sources The politics behind Roboute Guilliman's Imperium Secondus, the lighting of the beacon at MaCragge and the arrive of all the lost souls from so many different books was awesome. Guilliman definitely seemed different compared to the beginning of Know No Fear, and getting to see a Primarch that has his doubts and be confronted by some of his brothers on that doubt was awesome. I really loved the involvement of the other Legions in the novel as well, although I do find that the Ultramarines have grown on me with and since the whole battle of Calth. The White Scars were fun, the Space Wolves added some of their own sense of humor, and the groups of Shattered Legions present at MaCragge were great as well, and we can't forget about the continuation of Warsmith Danitoch's story, or that of Alexis the Crimson Fist following his retreat from Phall. They all definitely brought a breathe of fresh air to the Ultramarines, and getting to see where many of them ended up, is always fun.

I think the commission should start by looking at what Prof Barrett tried to insist on more than a decade ago. I’m calling for it to establish a formal group. As well as officials from the CWGC, this should include the defence secretary and representatives from the British armed forces and from Kenya, Tanzania and other former colonies. The Night Lords saw this threat and fell upon Sotha. The battle was fierce and bloody, claiming many lives, including that of Dantioch, who sacrificed himself to overload the Pharos, taking a host of Night Lords with him. Ultramarines and Dark Angels relief forces dealt with the survivors and Sotha was reinforced, though the power of the Pharos was permanently reduced. Some suggest that the blazing beacon created by the overloading also drew the attention of something deep in the void between galaxies, a great devourer that would threaten the Imperium ten millennia later…Guilliman's closest advisors suggested that no one else could be head of state. No one else could possibly be regent, for he was the last known Loyalist Primarch. The last loyal son of the Emperor. The only loyal son. He was meant to become what he must, to invest himself as the rallying point of Imperium Secundus -- to be Imperial, and reveal his renewed strength, his resolve, his mettle and the glory, like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Imperium Secundus was a Human empire on the Eastern Fringe of the Galaxy formed in 009. M31 during the Horus Heresy. At its peak, it compromised roughly five hundred worlds and was centered around the realm of Ultramar. [1] History But this is not the result of Kimani neglecting his duties but of a political decision taken thousands of miles away at the highest levels of the British establishment. I had to accept that one of the British institutions I always admired, the CWGC, was hiding a scandal. Roboute Guilliman — Primarch of the XIII Legion ' Ultramarines', Lord of the Five Hundred Worlds, now know as 'the Avenging Son Thanks to the loyalist Warsmith Barabas Dantioch activating the Pharos, warriors of the Emperor and refugees fleeing the Shadow Crusade were able to find their way through the Ruinstorm and make it to Macragge. Soon, Guilliman was joined by his brother Lion El'Jonson and the Dark Angels. [1] The comatose body of Vulkan was eventually brought to Imperium Secundus as well, joined by scattered forces of the Salamanders under Zytos, Raven Guard under Verano Ebb, Iron Hands under Eeron Kleve, White Scars under Timur Gantulga, Imperial Fists under Alexis Polux, and Space Wolves under Faffnr Bludbroder. Sanguinius and the Blood Angels, fresh from the Battle of Signus Prime, were among the last to arrive. [1]

Cut off from the Imperium, the Lord Macragge decided to secure the Five Hundred Worlds of the Realm of Ultramar. He decided to anchor what remained of the Imperium of Man on the Ultramarines' homeworld of Macragge. The XIII th Legion had discovered the means to help navigate their voidships through the Warp without the beacon of the Astronomican through the use of the recently discovered xenos-technology on the world of Sotha known as the Pharos. On Warhammer Community, coverage of Warhammer Fest will continue on Monday with even more Kill Team announcements. The rest of the week will focus on the exciting changes coming to specific factions in the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, as we start our Faction Focus series. But soon the answer to Guilliman's prayers were answered, in the form of the arrival of an Imperial Expeditionary Fleet translating in-system, newly arrived from the Thramas Sector in the Eastern Fringes. This fleet was led by none other than his fellow Primarch, Lion El'Jonson, and belonged to El'Jonson's Dark Angels Legion. The light of the great navigational beacon of the Astronomican was extinguished across half the galaxy through the efforts of the Word Bearers Legion's maleficent summoning of the massive Warp Storm known as the Ruinstorm. This is a story that forces us in Britain to rethink our deeply held traditions that come to the front of our minds this week and still have the power to affect our national mood, including the capacity to soothe, even momentarily, the chaos and fractures of Brexit Britain. We can’t say that we remember all our war dead with honour and dignity and yet exclude a third of a million people who died in their own continent serving Britain. Next week, as I lay my wreath in Tottenham, I will be remembering them all.Barabas Dantioch was recognized as the first Warden of the Pharos and a " Hero of the Imperium" by Guilliman's own decree. His mask remained within Mount Pharos atop the 'Aegidan Oath' sworn by Oberdeii as the new Warden of the Pharos, for almost a thousand years. [5] After Oberdeii became the Chapter Master of the Scythes of the Emperor, the mask was removed from its resting place, becoming a badge of office for the Chapter's highest rank. [5] [7a] I wish Curze would just die! Their also seems to finally be some resolution about Vulkan and his fate.

As a result of massive Ruinstorm created by Erebus in the Shadow Crusade the Astronomican had been thrown into a state of disarray, rendering navigation and communication impossible and effectively dividing the Imperium in half. Seeing the dire state of humanity, Primarch Roboute Guilliman saw fit to enact a contingency plan and create a new Imperium should the power of Terra fall. Guilliman had little knowledge of what was transpiring outside of Ultramar, and decided that rebuilding the Imperium was a necessity even if he was not sure if the Imperium was not yet destroyed. [1] Guilliman hesitated to declare the formation of the Imperium Secundus formally and publicly, having admitted his intention to his closest confidences only. He had strength in his conviction of its necessity, but would not shrink from the more unedifying aspects of the proposal. He wasn't bound by the fear that he was usurping the Emperor every bit as much as Horus. In truth, his hesitation was born of grief. With no monuments, the names of the fallen are by definition hard to trace, but Prof Michèle Barrett of Queen Mary University London, who is a leading expert in the field, found an intriguing record of some.

Whatever the reality of the situation they faced, the Ruinstorm prevented them from knowing the truth. Guilliman intended to utilise the moment to move to his advantage, and not to use the crisis as an opportunity to usurp the rightful ruler of the Imperium. He needed The Lion to understand that he was not Horus. Guilliman explained to his brother Primarch that the difference between himself and Horus was that he did not want to be the new Emperor. The Lord Macragge proposed that the Lion take up the mantle as the new Regent of the Imperium Secundus rather than himself. This was not about empire-building, or seeking to claim the throne for himself as Horus had done. The Avenging Son already had a stellar empire in his possession -- Ultramar -- the Five Hundred Worlds. Guilliman wanted his brother to know that his only intention was to ensure the survival of their father's dream. Terra might have fallen, and their father might already be dead.
