The 4th form of Gundam Barbatos, the protagonist of "Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans", is now available as an MG! An organic device system, this old man-machine interface was developed during the Calamity War to maximize the abilities of the mobile suit. I don’t love this, but the hands are fairly standard HG fare, so you can jam whatever else you want in there, if you don’t mind breaking canon. This product is an expansion set for "MG 1/100 Gundam Barbatos" (sold separately), It is a set of weapon/parts to reproduce one of the six forms (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 5th ground battle specification, 6th) .

There's a cockpit, but in all IBO gundam frames the cockpit aren't integrated in the frame, as we see in original design, there's also no cockpit. These parts were used in Barbatos' subsequent forms, proving to be handy during the atmospheric entry battle and subsequent battles on Earth.Of further annoyance, the hands like to fall apart from the weight of the huge sword – the back and the fingers, the only two parts, aren’t joined together very strongly, and you can’t even glue them, because the pommel doesn’t come off the sword. Left to right movement of the waist has been articulated to allow for distinct down-facing posing, too. The PD version is somewhat similar, but differs crucially in that a PD Mobile Armor is driven by a berzerk genocidal AI. IBO is another alternate universe Gundam timeline, distinct from the Universal Century timeline but bearing some similarities. The name Gunpla derives from the phrase “Gundam plastic model”, since most kits are made of plastic. The long sword primarily functions as a backup melee weapon when the mace or the large special mace is available as Mikazuki finds it hard to use. They are made from PS and hard ABS plastic and feature a very detailed design that can also easily be painted for an even more detailed look.

The drop in technical capabilities after the Calamity War, coupled with the use of an incomplete version of the system in the Outer Sphere areas (such as Mars and Jupiter), lead to the implant surgery having a low success rate and can only be done at a young age to let the implant fuse as the pilot grow. The cylinders in the frame employ silver plating for extra detail, and the chest features a gimmick to allow rotation of the Ahab Reactors for the first time in an MG. After six forms, alas, Barbatos bites off more than it can chew, and ends the season victorious, but also all fucked up. Although the new armor reduces the suit's mobility, they allow the Barbatos to battle for prolonged periods without any resupply.

Regardless, I prefer the regular Barbatos over the Lupus and Lupus Rex (though I have the LR in Full Mechanic). The burden experienced by the pilot is high as a result of the high output and maneuverability; however it's mitigated by the implementation of inertial control due to the use of Ahab Particles generated from the reactor when a phase transition occurs inside its vacuum device. Poor maintenance over the centuries since the Calamity War has degraded the Barbatos' armor and full combat potential.

The reasons that Barbatos is so frightening on the battlefield are because it’s simply one of the few Gundam frames still operable, and because Mika is brutally insane, utterly without mercy, and hard-wired into it.

The Gundam Frame, which is the internal structure, has been thoroughly examined from the setting in the play and reproduced in detail. Just like the other kits in the "Recirculation" lineup, this kit is molded in black provided with color accents to highlight its features. It’s great in some respects – the face and the yellow venting sections on the legs are properly done – but the red on the back of the foot, the black on the knee thrusters, or the blue on the hips are all done with stickers. Lol funny enough, they changed it on a weapon where it doesn't really matter if it's tilted off to the side a bit, whereas on a sword, it does matter if it's tilted off to the side. Master Grade gundams are 1/100 scale kits designed and made to higher standards than High Grade (HG) kits but fall under Perfect Grade (PG) kits.By default it just comes equipped with the big blunt “sword” and an extra pair of hands, and that’s it.
