Girls just love desperately throwing themselves at the male characters who say and do next to nothing for them… It happens in real life but w/ a tad more context and the luck doesn’t extend a whole family. Asano created the acclaimed manga Solanin which was released as a feature film in Japan in April 2010, starring Aoi Miyazaki. Seki rants about their childish antics and throws a nearby chair, which flies over the others but lightly scathes Punpun's forehead. Seki has a flashback to when he was younger and his dad brought him to the miso factory to get supplies.And then we have the Killing Stalking scene, girl is literally watching through the closet as he fucks his girlfriend. Sachi Nanjo provides a nice, funny foil to Punpun, making this the least-depressing volume of the series.

I normally don’t like manga girls in glasses but this one is drawn pretty stylish, not mousey, and she’s boldly funny, self-assured—unlike his perpetual but ever-estranged love interest, Aiko. At least she isn't a minor, but I'm questioning her sanity with her falling in love with an old bald pedophile. From the TV in Mama's hospital room, a news report airs about a murderer who turned himself in; the bodies were discovered in an abandoned factory, and a possibly related fire is under investigation.

Unrelated to my rating, I can't get over how distracting (and not in a good way) Mama Onodera's "breasts" are. I think the only course of action for them here is for them to rot in their rooms until they die, or to get therapy. Punpun’s relationship with Nanjo was good but the Good Vibrations stuff was awful, I hated the section where Punpun was drawn as a pyramid and the side characters were much weaker in this volume. Punpun is sure Aiko must've chickened out their trip to Kagoshima just as the taxi passes by City Hall, where a crying and rejected Aiko stands alone. I love how all of the characters, background characters especially, are drawn slightly askew, slightly off, I love the over-exaggerated facial expressions, I love how creepy it all is.She tells the kids they can stay but to watch out for the ghost of the owner who committed suicide by fire.
