About this deal

I bought this as a present to my girlfriend, I read it originally when I was 10 in a local library, I wanted to share this special comic with her but it was out of print, thanks to the seller I was able to purchase this copy which is the exact same print as the one that made me love Frank Miller, Dare Devil and comics in general.

His style with the other characters is quite blocky/square-looking, which works well for the main villain The Kingpin, but not so much for some of the others. While it's far from my favorite Frank Miller Daredevil, The Man Without Fear is a gritty look at Daredevil's earliest days and a great read.Throughout the comic, Matt Murdock develops his abilities, struggles with anger, and becomes Daredevil. The question of people's sanity or perception of reality comes up several times in different ways, and the theme of keeping emotions under control (too much or too little) is also explored.

Throughout the series, readers are exposed to many important characters in Murdock's life, from his mentor, Stick, to his college flame, Elektra, his best friend, Foggy Nelson, and even one of his most primary nemeses, Kingpin, also known as Wilson Fisk. The book tells the story of how Jack was killed, how Matt was blinded and what exactly Daredevil did before he set up his law firm with Foggy - essentually, everything that Yellow misses out (although there are some inconsistencies if you try to read them as the same continuity, eg Electra and Karen both claiming to be Matt's first love).

And I am not saying I dislike it in a hipster way, "Frank Miller's Daredevil is too popular so I dislike it". Chip Zdarsky’s overrated recent Daredevil run centres around Matt accidentally killing someone for the first time, which sends him into a spiral. With Chris Samnee’s art in his run with Mark Waid, you got a great idea of how Matt “sees” with radar - Romita doesn’t do anything like that.

El origen del personaje redefinido bajo los códigos del hard boiled y un sentido narrativo prestado del manga. Frank Miller and John Romita Jr both worked on Daredevil for long periods in the 1980’s, albeit on separate runs. It takes one of the most sexually liberated characters and gives her a lame origin/backstory which makes her a hooker. In Miller’s origin, Matt kills at least four guys, only three of them criminals, on purpose, before accidentally killing another person, and, besides making a few obligatory sad faces, carries on with his life unaffected. I think "X-Men" comes in a distant third, since they were interrupted, and "Spider-Man" comes in a close fourth since he went right from his first appearance to a solo book.
