About this deal

Prepare to unleash a crimson tide of annihilation in the name of the Ruinous Powers with Combat Patrol: Chaos Space Marines! This meticulously curated boxed set equips you with all the essential units required to commence your collection or reinforce an existing army. Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group, or our new Discord server, and make sure you enter the latest monthly giveaway for FREE today! Space Marines clad in Mark VI ‘Corvus’ armour are all the rage right now. Whether your troops are the covert sons of Corax or the dour footsloggers of the Death Guard, every Legion has a place for this armour, with its iconic beaked helmet and reinforced armour studs. For ten thousand years, the Chaos Space Marines have waged near-constant war on the galaxy that cast them out. Once the defenders of humanity, the Heretic Astartes have pledged themselves to the Dark Gods. Led by maniacal leaders such as the fanatical Dark Apostle, bitter warbands of Chaos Space Marines roam the battlefield, armed with an array of vicious weapons. Barricades and defenders alike are torn asunder by the devastating heavy armaments wielded by Havocs – and the frenzied swipes of a lumbering Helbrute.

No self-respecting Chaos Space Marines force is complete without at least one squad of Legionaries. These are the dark mirrors of loyalist Tactical Squads, with access to a variety of wargear and a host of unique weapons that make them more flexible – and violent – than uniform Intercessor Squads.* Realistically, we need to save around 2-300 points for Wargear. So to play it safe, we’re going to just add another unit. You could go with more Chaos Marines but we’re going to mix it up with a “weird” option to expand our collection. A Venomcrawler, Obliterators, or Possessed could all be fun. I don’t think those are bad options for a brand new army. The new Codex: Chaos Space Marines is bursting with evil , covering all the rules you need to let the galaxy burn. Included are eight subfactions, plus datasheets for 44 units, as well as Relics, Stratagems, Crusade rules, prayers, psychic powers, Marks of Chaos, and other vile articles of blasphemy. Expand the command options available to your Loyalist or Traitor Legions with a plastic Legion Cataphractii Praetor and Chaplain Consul. Give your Legion a nigh-indestructible leader with a Praetor clad in Cataphractii Terminator armour, and support your battle brothers with fervent chants courtesy of the Chaplain – a specialist Legion Consul concerned with morale, conviction, and bashing in heads. Geigor Fell-Hand

Of the 25 miniatures in the Orks Combat Patrol, 24 were brand new on the set’s release, including 20 new Ork Boyz, three Deffkoptas, and a Warboss in mega-armour. The Deff Dread isn’t a new sculpt, but is as shooty and stompy as ever. Second, the Combat Patrol versions of each faction’s datasheets army rules are different from their main Index. Datasheets are simpler, and armies have access to different Stratagems, and enhancements. The result? Tense, involved, but straightforward games that can be played in less than an hour.* There’s still plenty of nuance for Warhammer 40,000 experts to enjoy – swapping out Enhancements and Secondary Objectives to mix up their playstyle, and mastering each faction’s Combat Patrol in turn, without having to build up a full Incursion or Strike Force-sized army.

Is the CSM Combat Patrol Worth it?

Just from looking at the box, there are a decent number of minis inside and if the price stays the same as usual, this could be a decent value. We really don’t see how they could raise the price again, but we won’t put it past them. Here are the contents: Likewise, the MKVI-armoured Space Marines first available in the Age of Darkness set are also now available separately. You get 20 highly posable plastic Astartes armed with bolters and grenades, plus optional bayonets or chain-bayonets. There are also parts to build up to two Sergeants armed with various pistols and close combat weapons, as well as troops equipped with wargear like the nuncio-vox, a Legion vexilla, and augury scanner. Space Wolves: Geigor Fell-Hand The Outriders give you speed, and the Bladeguard Veterans give you a real punch in combat. Support their assault by charging your Assault Intercessors at the same time, and give everything buffs from the aura abilities of your Primaris Lieutenant and Bladeguard Ancient. Symbols and sigils are one of the main ways of courting the favour of the ruinous powers, so make sure you’re rolling these Chaos Space Marine themed dice, which are sure to attract blessings of the patron gods of plague, violence, excess, and twisty-changes. Combat Patrol: Chaos Space Marines Bolster your forces – be they Traitor or Loyalist – with this set of two Adeptus Astartes HQ options. Originally available in the Space Marine Heroes set, these two plastic miniatures can lead your forces in both the martial and spiritual arenas. The Praetor is clad in Cataphractii Terminator armour, wielding a chainfist and a combi-melta, while the Chaplain is in artificer armour with a plasma pistol and Crozius Arcanum. You also get a set of Horus Heresy transfers. Dice: Sons of Horus and Imperial Fists

Doom has come upon the Thousand Sons. Born from the Rubric, a curse of fire and dust stalks them across time and space. The spirits of the Rubricae are vanishing from the prisons of their armour in the fourth novel in John French’s Ahriman series. Usually, GW has waited until the codex has actually been released to reveal what the Combat Patrol will be. We’re often left guessing whether or not the picture in the codex is the actual box, but this time, we didn’t have to wait! Carefully selected, the contents of this set form an ideal Chaos Space Marines force tailored for thrilling Combat Patrol-sized games, comprising approximately 25 Power Level’s worth of versatile models that can be assembled in a multitude of ways. This MkVI Tactical Squad comes with everything you need to build 20 Space Marines equipped with bolters – enough for two squads of 10, or a full squad of 20 Legionaries. There are also options to build a Sergeant for each of your squads, as well as Legion vexilla, augury scanners, and nuncio-voxes, plus the option for bayonets or chain bayonets on each Space Marine. These models are also compatible with the Special Weapon and Heavy Weapon upgrade sets. Legion Astartes Praetor and Chaplain Consul

From here you’ve got a little over 800 points left to work with and we still need to budget for Wargear. You’ve got a couple of Troops to grab objectives, you’ve got some Elites to offer up some support, and a few heavy lifters. It’s a solid core to build from. This is really where you’re own personal preferences would take over. They operate as an ‘elite’ army in Warhammer 40k, meaning they tend to field fewer miniatures than their opponents for the same budget of points, but each model can hope to deal out more punishment to the enemy before it gets blown away.
