About this deal

One or more units from your army can start to perform this action at the end of the Move Units step of your Movement phase if they are within 1" of a Hatchway. This action can be performed by any unit that is not within Engagement Range of any enemy models, even if that unit is being affected by a rule that would normally prevent it from performing actions. The action is completed at the end of your Movement phase if no enemy models are within 1" of that Hatchway. If there are any enemy models within 1" of that Hatchway, your opponent can attempt to prevent the action from being completed. If they do so, roll off with your opponent; each player adds the Strength characteristic of one of their models that is within 1" of that Hatchway to their respective scores. If you win, the action is completed; otherwise, the action fails. If completed, that Hatchway opens (if it was closed) or closes (if it was open). Accordingly, a Chaos Space Marine who seeks the blessings of a particular god may hunt out appropriate victims to please the deity. Consequently, those who seek possession by Daemons of Nurgle ravage plague planets for rancid trophies. Likewise, those who wish for a Daemon of Khorne seek out the vilest murderers in the galaxy. The Heretica Daemonica suggests that each possession is unique, with its own particular trail of blood. One of the more competitive options among the legions in the new book, the Creations of Bile get +1″ movement and +1 Strength on all their units and that translates into an army that wants to go fast and tear you apart in melee. This translates primarily in game terms to taking lots of Raptors and Warp Talons, who benefit the most from going to S5, but it’s plenty frightening on Possessed, Lords Discordant, and some of the Daemon Engines. Fabius Bile himself is only OK but he’s now thankfully optional in a Creations of Bile army. Sprouting massive horns, gaping maws, and razor-sharp talons in place of redundant soft appendages, the Possessed pay no heed to the puny limitations of a merely transhuman physique. Look how happy they all are to be free from the burden of a cohesive form! Chosen: These guys are basically Terminators that can’t take a chainfist, have no invulnerable save, have a 3+ save, and can go in Rhinos. I could see minimum size squads in Rhinos, dreadclaws, or more being a way to get durable AP-3 or AP-4 melee spam. The third wound here makes them interestingly durable and it’s worth noting that if they destroy an enemy unit, they get all 3 parts of Let The Galaxy Burn for the rest of the battle. 8/10

During the first battle round, your army (and every unit from it) is engaged in Wanton Destruction. Daemons are only able to exist in the material realm for a short time, unless they are bound to a mortal host. While a Daemon might be able to terrorise a city or even a world while bound within a human host, a Chaos Space Marine provides a Daemon with the means to endure indefinitely outside of the Warp, inhabiting the body of a peerless, transhuman killer with the means to cause immense damage across numerous Imperial worlds. Chaos Terminators have the profiles you’d expect, save for being the only terminators with a 5+ invul Shooting: The downside to having great melee support is that your shooting support just isn’t there. This pushes you into a specific style of play with Word Bearers and can make certain matchups a little more difficult as your lists will tend to skew hard in one direction. And on the flip side, Word Bearers don’t have a ton of protection against shooting and can be vulnerable to being blasted off the board.Fellow Daemonkin look upon these deformed champions with great reverence, for they are living proof of the ultimate ascension that awaits them all. With gigantic pincer-claws and scythe-like talons of Warp-twisted bone, these malformed abominations slash and tear their prey apart, delighting in the gory carnage they wreak. Both mortal and daemonic warriors are driven to an exultant frenzy when they fight alongside the Greater Possessed, desperate to claim such eternal honour for themselves with a worthy display of brutality. This collection of beliefs upheld the core values of reason, science and secular progress over older traditions of religion, superstition and faith that had long defined many of the human worlds that had fallen into darkness during the Age of Strife after the fall of humanity's first interstellar civilisation. The Emperor Himself declared that Mankind would never be free to progress and advance to its destined position as the pre-eminent intelligent species in the Milky Way Galaxy until churches, idol worship and superstition were swept aside. Plague Marines bring LETHAL HITS with them on their plague weapons and can gain SUSTAINED HITS 1 and crit on a 5+ in the Shooting phase with a Dark Pact. This doesn’t combo with their auto-hitting weapons at all but can give you some decent output with their bolters and blight launchers. Their melee weapons are OK but that’s about it. They’re really just a tougher, slower objective holder if you take them in CSM.

When a Daemon is banished, other creatures from the Warp jostle to occupy the former Possessed. The strongest Daemon burrows into the Heretic Astartes' physical form and reshapes his flesh in hideous new ways. There is nothing that the Chaos Space Marine can do to influence this. Epistle of Lorgar. PRIEST only. The bearer knows an additional prayer, and in your Command phase, if the bearer is on the battlefield, they can chant an additional prayer they know that hasn’t already been chanted by a friendly model this turn. This is also massive, giving you a dramatic boost on effectiveness for your Dark Apostle. Alongside the Tome, this also goes in every Word Bearers army that includes a Dark Apostle. ASwollen by dark Warp energy and filled with a malicious zeal, they march into battle with Bolters spitting death at their enemies, uncaring of the returning fire that ricochets from their ancient Power Armour. Each act of slaughter or depravity they commit sends a ripple through the Warp, and its ever-hungry denizens are drawn to the carnage like sharks are to blood. Crown of the Blasphemer. Can be given to a CULTISTS model. This relic gives your unit a 4+ invulnerable save and once per battle, before making a saving throw for the bearer, it can use this relic. If it does, then it gets a 3+ invulnerable save until the end of the phase. This is a solid defensive buff option for a Lord Discordant or a Daemon Prince, but you’re probably better off investing your CP into offensive buffs for them. B Mark of Chaos Ascendant – Friendly HERETIC ASTARTES INFANTRY and MOUNTED units within 6” have a 4+ invulnerable save This process is long and utterly excruciating, but the Daemonkin embrace the constant torment, believing that only through the willing sacrifice of one's mortal flesh can true power -- the goal of every true Heretic Astartes -- be attained.

At first, Daemonkin warbands are populated with mortal warriors. Heretic Astartes form the iron heart of their battle line. Clad in age-old ceramite and wielding the same weapons they once employed in service of the hated Emperor of Mankind, Chaos Space Marines are themselves fearsome foes. All have sworn their lives and souls to the Chaos Gods, the first step upon a path that will lead them to glory or annihilation. Master of Possession [7 PL, 120pts, -1CP]: Baleful Icon, Gifts of Chaos, Mark of Slaanesh, Mutated Invigoration, Pact of Flesh To harbour a Daemon within, a Heretic Astartes must prove their unflinching loyalty to the Chaos Gods. Yet service alone is not enough to warrant possession. The destruction of flesh and souls are quotidian acts, and duly expected of any individual in the service of the Ruinous Powers. Therefore, the journey to possession by a Daemon requires a Chaos Space Marine to commit to a specific sequence of actions. It culminates in a debased act conducted by either a Sorcerer or Dark Apostle. Those Heretic Astartes who were of a more devout nature end up slaughtering their foes whilst screaming the names of their gods. These Possessed are relentless hunters, roaming ahead of their Traitor brethren. When they kill, such is their devotion to the Ruinous Powers that their victims are often arranged into ritually significant contortions, or have heretical runes carved into bloodied foreheads, the Possessed chanting debased litanies all the while. As the Long War rages ever on, the forces of the Imperium must endure endless assaults from the Ruinous Powers. The Possessed have been involved in a number of incidents of note, many of which have been recorded in the archives of the Inquisition.

Rounding out Heavy Support are the three Daemon Engines, all sporting the same upgraded profiles they had in Thousand Sons. These are generally a lot closer to decent on rate than they used to be, but still probably a little short of what you want in a list without a specific plan. The specific plan that feels most likely to work out is Maulerfiends in either Red Corsairs or Iron Warriors – they’re not too expensive, and hit like a freight train if they can connect, which either Advance and Charge or extra durability helps them to pull off. This is… just OK. As far as being a value vs. MSRP goes it’s fine, but long-term you’re probably not going to use the Helbrute and the Havocs are more of a situational add to the army. The Chaos Space Marines notably don’t come with the new sprue to upgrade the unit to have a psyker or a heavy chainaxe – those will be options for the kill team – and so I might generally recommend passing on this box in favor of buying the individual units you’ll need. Therefore a Chaos Space Marine is a highly-prized vessel for the horrors of the Warp. These warriors prove to be hardy hosts, and can endure mutation and torment that would easily tear apart the weak flesh of an unworthy Chaos Cultist. For a moment, we’re freed from the bloodlust with Crystal’s Accursed Torment, which dips into turquoise and pink to present something truly otherworldly. Lots of butter-smooth blends accentuate the unreal vibes of this warped beast. Sylvapaints Perhaps the most potent forms of the Possessed are those rare few Champions of Chaos who seek to prove their ultimate devotion to Chaos by allowing their forms to be possessed by one of the entities of the Warp.
