As I mentioned above the top storage compartment is awkward to open/close, but I liked the cord storage capability. The final verdict is a bit of a mixed bag for the DeWalt TSTAK radio. On the one hand, it has very good sound quality with a refined design and control system.On the other, the sound quality really suffers at higher volumes and the app can use some work. Overall, I think it has more Pros than Cons, especially if you understand its limitations. The other great thing is that it can run and charge other batteries that are compatible with it. This is great news when some of your power tools juices are down. With a centralised carriage system and rubber protected corners, the DeWalt DWST1-75663 is a tough cookie. It can last years.

Buy it if you’re looking for a TSTAK compatible music source that provides quality sound. Weather protection– If your intention is to work outdoors, you need to look for a radio that can be able to withstand the weather conditions. Most manufacturers provide information on the level of weather resistance. Waterproofing is especially important as moisture tends to ruin electrical equipment if exposed for long periods. The top of the Dewalt ToughSystem Radio and Charger DWST08810 has a sealed compartment that requires two hands to open – its awkward to operate, to say the least. Inside this compartment there is storage room for the 24V/2A charging cord, and also an area approx. 5-3/8” x 4” x 1” deep perfect for cell phones or other items. Sound quality is excellent - this radio consists of a class D amplifier and a digital sound processor which offers a distortion free, high power and high efficiency sound. There are also 2x subwoofer drivers and it features a bandwidth of 30Hz - 18KHz. If you are looking for extra features like Bluetooth connectivity, you might want to find another model. Otherwise, this can be a valuable addition to your working life and overall is a brilliant affordable radio, we really like the added compartment which you can place your phone or mp3 player inandthe USB port is handy for charging your mobile phone.
We recently took a look at the Dewalt ToughSystem Radio and Charger DWST08810. This radio was specifically designed as a part of the ToughSystem modular storage system. The ToughSystem, is an amazing tool storage and transport system and solution for pros who work outdoors and in tough conditions. On the other hand, the sound quality starts to suffer as the volume increases. The loudest third of the volume range really loses the richness of the sound at lower volumes as the mids and highs struggle to be heard against lows that seem almost out of control. In the settings, you have control over highs, mids, and lows as 3 broad ranges. There aren’t any EQ presets. The Bosch professional radio has another plus in its corner; it can easily be transported in the L-boxx. It only takes up half of the box and the other half of the box can be used in storing another power tool of equal size. So whenever you need to be on the move, you just shove it in your toolbox and go. While I seem to get slightly better sound from the DeWalt ToughSystem radio, overall, the sound quality is still very good. How Much Volume Do You Get?
It runs off of AC or DC power and will also charge Dewalt 12 volt and 20 volt batteries. The battery charger is rated as a 1A output and will take 90 to 300 minutes to charge your battery. There are a few downsides to this product such as the inability to save pre-searched stations. This can be aggravating since you never get to save any favourite channels. If you want a specific channel you start tuning from the beginning until you find it. It does not support Bluetooth connectivity. So I’ll start by saying that this radio charger is NOT for everyone and if your not using the ToughSystem, I’m not sure its worth the investment. We found that the foam compresses and develops a memory. Now what? My guess is that the radio will get bumped, and the battery will lose connection, which wipes out the radio channel memory. Is the Dewalt ToughSystem Radio and Charger Worth It?Volume is a little two-sided for the DeWalt DWST17510 TSTAK radio. On one hand, it gets very loud—uncomfortably loud to listen to at its highest volume in our 800 square foot office. In fact, the subwoofer and bass resonator hit with enough power to bounce the radio across hard surfaces.
