About this deal

King Kong is a giant gorilla, a monster of an ape, who lives on a remote island. The beast falls for a beautiful girl, Ann Darrow, and desperate to have her, he finds himself lured into captivity. He is brought to civilization and put on show, but when he sees Ann, he breaks his heavy chains and begins to wreak havoc on the streets of New York. About This Edition ISBN: Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments I hope that people give this book a shot. I should warn you it’s not the easiest read initially, as the story feels a bit chaotic at the onset, but once you get a handle on his writing style and basic plot, it’s really not a difficult read. It’s also very funny in parts and written with a lot of warmth and compassion.

By and large it was competent writing, though nothing spectacular. It was a decent rendering of a movie script, I'd say. The description was very sparse all throughout; hardly any of the characters got even basic description done on them, for example. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing per se, as perfectly good writing can be done with description that sparse, but in my particular case I tend to like at least a bit of basic description done on people to help me imagine them. Deacon King Kong by James McBride is not the type of book I ordinarily would have chosen for myself. If it hadn’t popped up on Oprah’s book club, I probably wouldn’t have given it much consideration. When Deacon King Kong starts, everything feels a little chaotic, and there’s tons of small pieces of information flying by. I started off a little skeptical, honestly. After the first few chapters, I put it down for a few days, unsure whether I’d finish it. Sportcoat, may have been the deacon of The Five Ends Baptist Church for years, but he is also a long-time alcoholic, whose beverage of choice is a homemade hooch called King Kong. While his health has suffered, more so now that his wife, Hettie, has died, no one seems to know why Sportcoat shot Deems. However, the fallout connects a group of people from vastly different walks of life, from police officers, to members of the Italian mob, in a very surprising way.
