About this deal

Don’t have a scale? You can measure by volume (with measuring cups) if you increase the flour by 42 percent. In other words, multiply the original amount of flour by 1.42. For example, many of my muffin recipes call for 1.75 cups whole wheat flour. To use oat flour instead, multiply 1.75 by 1.42 to yield 2.485, which we’ll round up to 2.5 cups oat flour.

To sift oat flour, simply place it in a medium fine mesh sieve and sift above large bowl. Sift until no more flour is falling through the mesh, and you see fine powder is in the bowl and only larger pieces of whole oats are left in a strainer. A million dollar question is “How much oat flour does 1 cup of oats make?”. Before we talk whether it’s worth to make it at home, let’s talk about how much of it do you get. Research shows that, in moderation, oats can be a healthy and helpful food for diabetics and others struggling with blood sugar issues. The aim of a 2015 scientific review was to figure out if oats intake is beneficial for diabetic patients. The researchers looked at 14 controlled trials and two uncontrolled observational studies, and the findings are quite impressive.Another reason that oat flour is so great for the heart is that it’s been shown to lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. Specifically, it’s the beta-glucan (β-glucan) found mainly in the endosperm cell wall of oats that’s believed to be responsible for decreasing total serum cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. How does it work? Well β-glucan is a highly glutinous soluble fiber so as it travels through the small intestine, it actually limits the absorption of dietary cholesterol. ( 4) When using this flour in recipes that require baking powder, add 2.5 teaspoons of baking powder for every cup of flour. Recipes Medium Density: has the ability to keep things soft and light but can also make things dense with additional liquid added

Similar to the way a bowl of oatmeal can keep you going until your next meal, adding oat flour to a recipe can really up the satiety factor, which is excellent for your energy levels as well as your waistline. Also, let’s not forget all of the major health benefits that oat flour offers to your heart as well as your blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Oat bran is the outer layer of the oat groats. It is not a wholegrain but it does contain plenty of fibre and antioxidants and is a particularly good source of beta-glucan. You can add it to your breakfast cereal for extra fibre or use it in baking for a nutritional upgrade. A word about gluten-free oats Test recipes in smaller batches. Make slight adjustments to the recipes at first, and then scale up based on successful results. Can you eat oat flour raw? If it's your just getting into gluten free baking, here are some of my tried and true favourite oat flour recipes to get you started:

Add 2 cups of rolled oats into a high speed blender (I use a Vitamix) and blend on high for 30-45 seconds. Scrape down the sides and mix it around with a spatula. Then blend again for 15-20 seconds, until as fine and powdery. Oat flour is full of flavor and contains a balanced array of wholesome nutrition. Although it’s not the only naturally gluten-free ingredient, oat flour has found its way into many wheat-free recipes. Try these Fluffy Oat Flour Waffles! Does oat flour have carbs? Grundy MM, Fardet A, Tosh SM, Rich GT, Wilde PJ. Processing of oat: the impact on oat's cholesterol lowering effect. Food Funct. 2018;9(3):1328-1343. doi:10.1039/c7fo02006f It’s noteworthy to mention that some people experience oats side effects that are similar to the symptoms of gluten-intolerance. Research has concluded the possibility of an allergic reaction or oats sensitivity.
