About this deal

Oh my god Mason, can you stop being a robot spewing inspirational/motivational crap?! Act like a normal teenage boy for once damn it. Their texts read like nothing people, let alone teenagers, communicate with each other. So trite. And tiresome to read. Nate is a character from the Fallen Crest series, but new readers do not need to read anything before reading Nate’s book. Quincey (h) said that valerie did love nate even though she married someone else, she never pushed for more. I skimmed my way through this book. This trope is probably the worst one in the world and I just wish authors understood that.

I've been excited for Nate to have his standalone for a while. I've loved Sam's and Mason's story and Heather and Channing's story. Now some people have a problem with this trope because Quincey ended up with her sister’s ex, but to me, it didn’t totally weird me out, maybe because I don’t have a sister. Nate and Valerie were never shown together, Quincey didn’t know them as a couple, and the relationship they did have was very casual. Also, Quincey and Valerie weren’t close as children and didn’t grow up together, even though they became closer after Nova’s birth. To me, we never got to know Valerie and Nate as a couple, and the only person who thought they could’ve potentially got together was Quincey, Nate never gave an indication that he loved Valerie, in fact he was adamant he hadn’t. So, because there were no residual romantic feelings there from Nate, I didn’t see a problem with Nate and Quincey as a couple, but that’s just my opinion. To say I've been anticipating this book would be a HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT. I NEEDED IT. BAD. So I literally SCREAMED when I found out I won an early copy of this! I’m still screaming.

Anyway one day she decides to go to a party in the woods, where she ends up seeing oh the SEXY Blaise getting a blowjob. Now being a decent human you would actually turn around and leave or maybe watch for a few minutes and then leave, ESPECIALLY when the guy catches you watching. But nooooo Aspen stands there and watched Blaise get a blow job. So you think to yourself: Okay, sure. Nate has a girly friend who finds herself with child....they’ll suffer through some drama, their own and probably their families, get together, and raise their bundle of joy. THE END. Quincy is Valerie's half sister. Valerie has died and left Quincy with half custody of Nate's and her baby (who Nate knew nothing about). Reading Nate was exciting. I loved where Tijan took the drama. It wasn’t what I expected. There was a family feud like in the other Fallen Crest High books, but it wasn’t with Nate’s family. It all revolved around his daughter and the mother’s side of the family. It wasn’t the same old drama and I appreciated that. Things were handled in a more grown-up way, too. It was nice to see the maturity of Tijan’s original characters as they are now adults.Tijan’s books are some of my favourites, and I will say it time and time again. I adore her standalones, but I didn’t quite realise how happy I would be returning to the Fallen Crest world so fully as you do in Nate. You’ve had hints of these characters in the Crew series, but seeing Nate, Mason, Logan, and Sam again made me so happy, it felt like I was returning home to old friends. Nate had intrigued me since reading Fallen Crest in 2014, so I knew his book was going to be a good one, and I was right. We later learn the heroine is basically a pawn for her father which is why she comes at Nate the way she does. After being granted custody of Nova, she gives up her dancing career to be a great mother. (Though she does keep a nanny still. Rich ppl problems I guess smh). The dynamic between the heroine and her father is insane and she is left essentially emotionally unavailable and emotionally challenged. The only one I know for sure she cares about is Nova. Throughout the book I kept wanting her to get actual help. She was repeatedly told no one loved her and no one ever could leaving her with so many unseen scars. This girl needed a hug in the worst way and even though she was so challenged I felt like she kept being blamed for the person she turned into. The family dynamic between her and her family was so twisted but more so with her father who looked at her as a possession. He continually tries to get Nova away from Nate not because he gave two shits about her but because in his eyes she was his to own. It does come after the Fallen Crest books are done, but in essence, it's its own universe. The two characters in The Crew Series that appear in Fallen Crest are Heather and Channing. Bren and all the other main characters do not appear in the Fallen Crest books.
