About this deal

Beechams max strength all in one capsules and hot drinks contain the painkiller paracetamol, a cough expectorant called guaifenesin and a decongestant called phenylephrine hydrochloride. These three active ingredients have different actions to relieve your symptoms. This medicine is licensed for adults aged 16 years and over. How does Beechams max strength all in one work? Contains paracetamol. Do not take anything else containing paracetamol whilst taking this medicine. Do not take more medicine than the label tells you to. Talk to a doctor at once if you take too much of this medicine, even if you feel well. If you do not get better, talk to your doctor. Each 20ml liquid contains 500mg paracetamol, 200mg guaifenesin and 10mg phenylephrine. Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over should take one 20ml measured dose (or four 5ml spoonfuls) every four hours as necessary. Do not take more than four doses in 24 hours. Beechams all in one liquid contains alcohol equivalent to approximately 76ml beer or 31.6ml wine per 20ml dose. This may be harmful for people suffering from alcoholism or epilepsy.

Side effects: See SPC for full details. Hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis, skin rashes, angioedema. Bronchospasm, hepatic dysfunction, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, increased blood pressure, anxiety, irritability, restlessness, excitability, headache, nervousness, dizziness, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and urinary retention. Don't take Beechams max strength all in one if you have taken a type of medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days. MAOIs include the antidepressants phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline, safinamide and rasagiline. This is because the combination of phenylephrine with these medicines could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). Indications: Symptomatic relief of influenza, feverishness, chills and colds, including feverish colds. Relief of mild to moderate pain including headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache, sore throat, period pains, aches and pains, rheumatic pain and muscular aches and pains. If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Beechams all in one, because the decongestant may make your blood pressure medicine less effective. Beechams max strength all in one capsules: Each capsule contains 500mg paracetamol, 100mg guaifenesin and 6.1mg phenylephrine. Adults aged 16 years and over should take two capsules every four hours as needed. Do not take more than four doses (eight capsules) in 24 hours. The capsules should be swallowed whole with a drink of water. They can be taken either with or without food.Paracetamol is a painkiller that can relieve a headache and mild to moderate aches and pains associated with colds and flu. Paracetamol also works to bring down a fever and this stops you feeling hot or shivery. Warnings and precautions: Aspirin should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, mild to moderate renal or hepatic impairment, or in patients who are dehydrated. Haematological and haemorrhagic effects can occur, which should be reported to a doctor. Caution in patients with G6PDH deficiency. Excessive intake of caffeine should be avoided. Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine. Should not be given to children aged under 16 years unless specifically indicated (e.g. for Kawasaki's disease). Patients who suffer from asthma, allergic disease, kidney or liver problems should consult their doctor before taking this product. Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with the ingredients of Beechams max strength all in one. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using this medicines will experience that or any side effect. Do not take the medicine continuously for longer than five days without consulting a doctor. If your symptoms don't go away or get worse despite taking this medicine, ask your pharmacist for advice. Talk to a doctor at once if you take too much of this medicine, even if you feel well. This is because too much paracetamol can cause delayed, serious liver damage. Hypertensive interactions occur between sympathomimetic amines such as phenylephrine and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (see contraindications). If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Beechams max strength all in one, because the decongestant may make your blood pressure medicine less effective. Dosage: Adults and children aged 16 years and over: One powder to be taken every three to four hours as required. Do not exceed six powders in any period of 24 hours. Use with caution in elderly patients. Product should be discontinued if pain gets worse or lasts more than 10 days (or lasts more than 3 days for fever).Guaifenesin is a well known expectorant. Such expectorants are known to increase the volume of secretions in the respiratory tract and therefore to facilitate their removal by cilary action and coughing.
