About this deal

The ATPIAL-C is top of the line and very robust. It can be used with an optional tape switch for its operation. The unit takes a single AA battery and using lithium instead of alkaline will provide better performance.

This was pretty impressive. The other units I tested could not detect the contrast of the shadow from such a distant and low intensity light source. The impressive performance doesn’t stop there. In additional tests I could see navigation lights on aircraft miles away. I could not see these lights with my naked eyes. High Performance + The PVS-14 cannot be placed in front of the optic because it is not a collimated system. This makes using the PVS-14 on a helmet the best option. Performance

Mounting a PVS-14 on a helmet is the preferred setup for a self-defense situation or a tactical combat situation. A head mount assembly is great for tactical situations and being hands-free. This can also save you money if you do have, or want to buy extra gear. Other night vision systems require you to buy an IR laser targeting device and a helmet with mounting systems. The highly versatile PVS-14C system by GSCI can be used as a hand-held monocular, helmet mounted NVG or night vision scope add-on in extreme low-light conditions. The PVS-14 is lightweight, compact, rugged and waterproof, this makes the PVS-14 a very impressive all-around night vision device, trusted by the Military. A rifle mounted illuminator is recommended for target identification and shooting at greater distances) The biggest impression I got from this unit: It “sees” more than the other units we’ve tested so far. I helmet tested the PVS-14 in various lighting conditions. While I was testing the unit in a suburban environment I noted that I could see a detailed shadow my body was casting. It was very dark for the area and the nearest light sources were about 200 yards away. I flipped the PVS-14 up to see if the shadow could be seen with the naked eye. Nope. I started to look for the light source that was responsible for the shadow. Through the device I determined that the light source responsible for the shadow was indeed the porch light 200 yards away.

Night vision is an interesting technology. In the civilian world quality night vision is something that is rarely seen. That’s not to say that quality night vision is not available but it is rare. It is unlikely that the PVS-14 will ever drop in price. Again all night vision is expensive but the PVS-14 is more affordable than other units. There are a lot of different manufactures that make PVS-14s and lots of different details and information to be aware of before making a decision. With the PVS-14 being a monocular night vision unit, in no way are you less capable than a dual nod setup. When 2020 hit I decided this was going to be the year that I finally got night vision. I did an obscene amount of research on the companies and options out there and after numerous recommendations to go with US Night Vision I took the plunge and bought this unit. As the US military's standard issue night vision device, PVS-14 Scopes are the gold standard by which all other night vision devices are judged. Hopefully, you already have a ballistic helmet or a bump helmet. You can always buy a standalone strap mount but in my experience, these are no good.
