As you can see above, this palette features many rich, sultry shades. There are five mattes and four shimmers, all of which are very warm. I think the colors are very beautiful, but when I think of topaz, I think of yellow. Although there is a yellow in this palette, the overall color story leans more orange and brown. So, I guess this palette is more like poppy topaz versus a true yellow topaz. The color story in the pans is quite nice, it looses quite a bit of variation on the eye though. Shades #3 and #8 are basically dupes, the only difference is that shade #8 shows up as a more vibrant version of shade #3 and it's useless in terms of deepening up the look if paired with shade #3. The shimmers #6 and #9 are technically two very different shimmers, but once they are on the eye together you can barely tell them apart. Shade #2 is also barely distinguishable if paired with shade #6. Shade #4 pulls so orangey that it almost dupes shade #2, there are only slight textural differences.

That said, if we had to choose, Huda Beauty’s topaz obsessions wins out. While the look of the palette isn’t quite as dazzling as Vieve’s, we appreciate the fact it’s small enough to pop in your bag for daytime touch-ups, for travel, or even to go from a day to evening look. Described as being ‘rich rose gold, amber, burnished bronzes and tangerine orange shades’ it pretty much sums up the colour story perfectly. You have four shimmer shades and 5 matte shades, which is a good mix and it does look pretty. However… you do have a lot of shades in there that are very similar tones and when you blend them out on the eyes they all sort of mix into the same colour. Which if you like an orange toned, bronzy look, then hey ho, nothing to complain about. But it’s really not as versatile as (say) their Warm Brown Obsessions Palette. And I feel like this is the general theme with their Precious Stone Series. Formula & Application But putting that aside, I have another one of the HUDA Beauty mini palettes and I thought I would share with you my thoughts and feelings!

Versatile, super buildable & easily blendable, the formula applies like a dream with minimal fall out (whether you use a brush or your fingers!). Just like the OG Obsessions palettes, each palette has nine super-pigmented, creamy and ultra blendable shades that give maximum color payoff. Matte, shimmer and duochrome shadows work together in perfect harmony or as stand-alone shadows. Whether you want a dramatic, vibrant look or soft glam, each palette can create a diverse range of stunning looks. Rich, bold colored eyeshadows are so hot right now, so whatever your fav shade is, these will keep your look on trend for fall. I LOVE the shimmer shades, and I will probably reach for this a lot when I’m looking for shimmery shades in that super warm copper tone. However, is this a regular eyeshadow palette that I’ll use all the time? Probably not. The colours are a little too orange for me to use on the daily, and I feel like there are other palettes in my collection I love more.

After 1 year of weekly use I can say that the quality of this palette overall falls somewhere in the middle. I don't think it's amazing, but it's mostly easy to work with and lasts well throughout the day. The mattes are quite chalky to the touch but perform nicely on the eye and are easily buildable and blendable. The shimmers are mostly chonky and have fall out through the day. There are four foil shades in this palette in various warm-brown hues, and five mattes including a vibrant warm yellow, a pale pink shade (which could be used as a base), two medium-warm browns and a dark but warm chocolate brown. It’s no secret that HUDA’s shimmer formula is one of my favourite out there! They’re pigmented, and buttery and apply beautifully onto the lid without the need for wetting your brush! They also last FOREVER on you lid! Three of the shimmers in this palette are pretty much the same shade, but they are all so pretty and the deeper coppery brown is such a gorgeous deep shimmer!

Huda Beauty Ruby Obsessions: Striking ruby red tones have to be one of my fav looks. Whether I’m feeling a sexy sultry eye or a feminine, flirty pink, this palette has me covered. Just like the stone itself, it’s super opulent, with 5 vibrant duochrome shimmers and 4 creamy mattes.
