There are literally no other notes in this frag that exist past the 3-minute mark. I get maybe a little lavender-smelling something in the first 3 minutes of the fragrance...after that it's cinnamon-leather until I take a shower to get this mess off me. Ooookay...the bottle is here!! I received the fragrance today and I have to say...it's DEFINITELY not like the original Oud 24hrs in any way c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y !!! This is more of a smooth suede woody fragrance. There is a subtle and smooth-as-silk leather/suede note in this fragrance at the heart. It's there from the spray until it becomes a skin scent. Now...I am not someone that likes "Leather" notes with the exception of two fragrances.... If what he means by that phrase is he wanted to make a less aggressive oud which would be more wearable by people who are not enamored of strong notes, I think he succeeded. The top of Midnight Oud begins with a pairing of bergamot and saffron. This is as strong a saffron note as I’ve come across recently and it is an excellent choice to start off an oud based fragrance. The saffron imparts a slightly dried grass and leather aspect to the beginning which adds a little bit of exoticism to the beginning. The heart begins with the appearance of the oud. The oud is very restrained here, of all of the oud scents out there it is most closely akin to the level of oud in M7.
Gotta try this with "Gold Rush Man" as a creamy vanilla-lavender base layer. With the leathery notes this one brings...they should go GREAT together! It's also reminiscent of 1 Million, just a touch with the opening sweetness, but it's not as cloying or in your face as the Paco Rabanne monster that everyone and his grandad oversprays, it's far more intimate, more sophisticated yet more opulent. I get Tonka, chocolate, vanilla, honeycomb, a bit of spiciness like cinnamon/cumin/saffron. It's got a real cake shop vibe to it. It's lovely.I'll be wearing this one out tomorrow to help a friend move. I'll see if it lasts through sweat and high body temps.
Having just bought this and worn it for a few days now (perfect weather in the UK just now - Spring Snow :o) ) I get dry, powdery, citrus, Oud and a hint of Vanilla. It's not unpleasant but I'm not leaping to celebrate it either. It's a bit weird. A sort of Jekyll & Hyde it's like two quirky personalities spliced together in the same bottle - sweet, fruity, fresh citrus aromatic for one and the other a dry, earthy (patchouli), woody (Oud) oriental. It kinda works but also kinda doesn't. I shall live with it a bit longer and see if it improves with some more time to macerate in the bottle and a dark cupboard.

I bought this out of curiosity after reading the comments, and liking SWY Leather only not having a bottle any longer - nor will I pay the ludicrous resale prices.
Romano Ricci, the grandson of Nina Ricci, created the niche House Juliette Has a Gun in 2006. The first two scents were Miss Charming and Lady Vengeance. These were rose centered fragrances; Miss Charming was a light and more feminine rose and Lady Vengeance was a darker, more unisex rose. Of the two I regularly wear Lady Vengeance when I’m in the mood for a darker rose fragrance. The most recent release is Midnight Oud which M. Ricci stated in the press materials that he wanted to be a “European version of Oud”. If this is what "Stronger with you: Leather" and "Armani Code Absolu" smell like...then I've definitely got a winner on my hands. This fragrance is absolutely smooth, low-key but attention grabbing, slightly comforting and yet very powerful in it's stance. This is one of those fragrances you wear when you've got your stuff together and you aren't looking for attention or to offend anyone....but just to smell great!

I just can't get any performance out of this fragrance. Even soaking myself with 20 sprays only yields a skin-scent of leather...leaving me smelling like some kinda leather-wearing old biker dude or a BDSM gimp that just finished a suit-session. Oud is the oil made from the resin of the Agarwood tree. It has been a staple of Middle Eastern perfumery for centuries. The best pure oud oils from the region are some of the most expensive and powerful perfume oils to be found. In 2002, Tom Ford in his creation of M7 for Yves St. Laurent brought the note of oud into Western consciousness in a big way. Seven years later, 2009 looks like oud’s coming out party as we have seen a number of different takes on oud throughout this year from Houses big and small. There are six scents with oud in their name which have been released this year. Not to mention the extensive Montale line of ouds, which grows larger every year. Unless Ard Al Zaafaran keep adjusting the composition of ingredients from batch to batch, I can't understand the comparisons to such a broad spectrum of, in some cases, vastly different fragrances altogether. Bogart Pour Homme? Really? Poles apart to my nose but hey it's all subjective. Personally, I agree there are echoes of Stronger with You Leather but also Stronger With You Only although the Chestnut and Elemi take them in their own direction. I also get echoes of Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol but again not in a like-for-like sense, just a slight similarity.
