About this deal

Upon unboxing the MZ1 Wireless I immediately noticed that not a lot had changed in the looks department, and I think that that’s a bit of a shame. The community as a whole seems to be well past cheese grater designs in mice, and while I personally don’t mind the holes (I do prefer a solid shell these days, but I have no issues using a mouse with holes in it) I have to say that I think this mouse would look (and feel, in case you’re someone who dislikes the feeling of holes under your fingers) a whole lot better with a solid shell.

ESports-Grade Wireless Performance: 1000 Hz Polling Rate. The same speed and responsiveness as XTRFY's wired mice, without a wire. I also think that the way the holes in the shell have been placed slightly defeats the purpose of having holes in the first place. As I mentioned a couple of times during this review, the Xtrfy MZ1 mouse is not for everyone. They are unapologetically targeting a niche audience and by all indications, I don’t fit into that demographic. Keep that in mind while I run through my verdict. Shape is King. The Number 1 factor when it comes to aim. Re-invented by a legend in the game. The MZ1, Zy's Rail but now with lag-free wireless connectivity. The thought process behind the design clearly targets a very specific category of people, and for that section of people, these design choices will be fantastic news.State of the Art Components:Selected by one of the toughest critics in the world, the components in the MZ1 are top-tier and well-proven. Under the shell, you will find an ARM 32-bit microcontroller and the Pixart 3389 sensor. That physical footprint alienates gamers that prefer mice with enough palm support, but it’s great for those that prefer to have more room to enable micro aim adjustments by the fingers. The narrow width also makes it feel like the mouse is barely there when you’re holding it, which some people might enjoy. Customization If like me, you’re the type of person that regularly changes DPI depending on what you’re doing with the mouse, this will be an inconvenience. Weighing just 62g , the Xtrfy MZ1 RGB is wirelessvery light and allows particularly nimble and precise mouse movements in fast-paced game situations. In addition, the mouse is equipped with the very flexible EZcord-Pro cable , which impresses with its high flexibility. The three rounded sliding feet of the Xtrfy MZ1 are made of 100% PTFE and enable low-friction movements on the mouse pad.

Personally, I believe that one of the most important parts of a gaming mouse is the scroll wheel, so it was nice to see that this one was consistent. The notches find the perfect balance between stiff and smooth, so you can cycle through nice and easy. PerformanceHowever, it also means that you need to be aware of the physical limitations of using the mouse in relation to your own preferences before you buy. The crisp illumination of Xtrfy’s mice is even more impactful with the translucent shell of the MZ1. Choose your color. Switch between numerous LED effects. Adjust the brightness. Or turn the illumination off. All settings are made directly on the mouse. The included paracord cable charges the mouse, and it is very lightweight which is nice for times when you still want to play while charging. Cost In-game, the mouse felt pretty nice despite its shape. My grip was not very consistent, but that was largely due to the fact that it did not feel built for my hand.

In my MZ1 review, I remarked that the shell had some unpleasant creaking and flexing issues on the spot where I put my thumb, and I’m happy to report I didn’t experience those issues with the MZ1 Wireless. Of course this is something that could pop up after months of usage, but sadly I cannot test for that as I only have a limited amount of time to spend with any given product. It’s a pretty small mouse. 111mm is shorter than any gaming mouse that I can recall using in a long time, and 59mm width is also pretty narrow. The coating on the MZ1 Wireless still doesn’t feel fantastic. It’s not as grippy as it could be, though that’s not something that’s an issue since the holes do help with grip. Still, if Xtrfy ever moves to solid shells I’d like to see a change in the coating because this gloss/matte hybrid isn’t something that I personally like. The old reliable Pixart 3370 sensor is still a high-performance and energy-efficient sensor. There are better sensors out there for flagship gaming mice, but this one performs just fine. You can also change the weight distribution of the mouse by changing the position of the battery. If you prefer a top-heavy, bottom-heavy, or balanced mouse, all you have to do is unscrew a few screws and move the battery to achieve your desired result. Coating However, I also think that if it’s just not for you, then it’s not for you. There will be many people that will struggle to get used to this mouse as a daily driver simply because it’s just not physically practical for the way that they use their mice.
