About this deal

The next figure shows how well the display is able to reproduce really dark parts of an image, which is essential when watching movies or playing games in low ambient light. We also run a custom Adobe Photoshop image-editing benchmark. Using an early 2018 release of the Creative Cloud version of Photoshop, we apply a series of 10 complex filters and effects to a standard JPEG test image. We time each operation and add up the total (lower times are better). The Photoshop test stresses the CPU, storage subsystem, and RAM, but it can also take advantage of most GPUs to speed up the process of applying filters. Due to the additional graphics card, the ThinkPad T14 G3 also consumes more power, while the additional performance compared to the AMD version is very small. So the additional module is hardly worthwhile, and those who can make do without Thunderbolt 4 will get the better business laptop with a longer battery life if they choose the AMD version of the ThinkPad T14 G3.

Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 3 uses a WUXGA IPS touchscreen panel, model number AUO B140UAN02.1 (LEN403A). Its diagonal is 14″ (35.6 cm), and the resolution – 1920 x 1200. Additionally, the screen ratio is 16:10, the pixel density – 162 ppi, and their pitch – 0.16 x 0.16 mm. The screen can be considered Retina when viewed from at least 53 cm (from this distance, the average human eye can’t see the individual pixels). In addition to the integrated Iris Xe Graphics G7of the processor, Lenovo also equipped our test configuration with a dedicated GeForce MX550from Nvidia with 2 GB of VRAM. The graphics card is allowed to consume a maximum of 30 watts and also offers a noticeable advantagein the benchmarks compared to the slightly outdated iGPU from Intel. However, the integrated Radeon 680M in the AMD model performs at the same level, at least in the synthetic tests. So we must already ask the question, why you would need the additional graphics card here. measures relative graphics muscle by rendering sequences of highly detailed, gaming-style 3D graphics that emphasize particles and lighting. We run two different 3DMark subtests, Sky Diver and Fire Strike. Both are DirectX 11 benchmarks, but Sky Diver is more suited to laptops and midrange PCs, while Fire Strike is more demanding and lets high-end PCs and gaming rigs strut their stuff. WQUXGA IPS (3840 x 2400), add-on-film-touch, AGARAS (antiglare, -reflection, & -static), 500 nits, 100% DCI-P3, HDR400, Dolby Vision™, Eyesafe ® certified low blue lightInnovative 2-in-1s– part laptop, part tablet, part nothing you’ve seen before – for those who want to tap the untested power of the new. If you're buying the Intel model, you'll also have some upgraded discrete graphics, if you want to. You now have the option for the NVIDIA GeForce MX550 (an upgrade from last year's MX450) or a GeForce RTX 2050, which is a brand new addition to the ThinkPad T14. Usually, this would set it apart from the less expensive ThinkPad E14 model. However, the Gen 4 was a fantastic unit, that brings a remarkable quantity of features for a very good price.

According to the manufacturer, this laptop does not only offer more than enough performance for the daily work of all kinds of enterprise employees. It also uses post-consumer content, like plastic and other natural materials for some components. This includes the speaker enclosure, the battery shell, and the power adapter. On the other hand, there are also disadvantages such as the significantly higher power consumption under load, with the included 65-Watt power supply being much too weak, resulting in artificial throttling of the performance under combined CPU/GPU load. The fan also gets louder, and the battery life turns out shorter. At the same time, the AMD processor performs at the same level in the multicore tests, while consuming less power. Looking at theThinkPad T14 G3 by itself, it is a good business laptop also with the Intel/Nvidia combination with slightly more graphics performance than the aged iGPU from Intel. Compared to the AMD version, there are a couple of advantages, such as the higher single-core performance of the Intel processor and the slightly better gaming performance of the dedicated GeForce MX550. In addition, the Intel model also offers Thunderbolt 4 and there is a SO-DIMM slot, allowing you to expand the working memory. In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.USB port transfer speeds are approximate and depend on many factors, such as processing capability of host/peripheral devices, file attributes, system configuration and operating environments; actual speeds will vary and may be less than expected. On the other hand, the GeForce GPU has a slight advantage compared to the integrated Radeon 680M in the actual gaming benchmarks, but this advantage isn't really huge. Those who like to play a round of games on their work laptop after finishing work are significantly better served by the Schenker Vision 14and der RTX 3050 Ti, for example. Lenovo offers six display options for the T14s. However, the 2.2K display didn't make it to the European market: Laptop ThinkPad kami menetapkan standar untuk komputasi bisnis. Our “Design and Gaming” profile delivers optimal color temperature (6500K) at 140 cd/m2 luminance and sRGB gamma mode.

Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. The T14s teed off on the systems with Intel integrated graphics, but a gaming laptop with discrete graphics will eat its lunch. These enterprise notebooks are by no means meant for gameplay. The Dell narrowly won this benchmark, but the T14s was hot on its tail. Except for its slightly awkward microSD card, it's a fine choice for managing a photo collection. Graphics Tests Performance laptops for creators, professionals, or gamers– we’ve got powerhouses that rival what desktops deliver.

During our testing, the matt display only managed to get as bright as 300 cd/m² instead of the 400 cd/m² claimed by Lenovo. This could pose an issue when you're using the laptop outdoors. We have already tested out the same panel when reviewing the X1 Yoga G7and found that it also failed to meet the specifications at 360 cd/m². For comparison, the low-power display on the ThinkPad T14 G3got significantly brighter at 435 cd/m². This is once again another example of the display lottery caused by Lenovo using different parts suppliers. Limits: Limit 5 per customer. Offers valid from Lenovo in the US only. Lenovo may increase or decrease these limits, from time to time, for certain offerings. I compared the benchmark performance of the ThinkPad T14s to that of four other 14-inch business notebooks, ranging from the Acer TravelMate P6 and Dell Latitude 7410 to the Asus ExpertBook B9450 and 2019's Intel-based Lenovo ThinkPad T490s. All had quad-core processors (all "Ice Lake" 10th Generation Core chips, apart from the older Core i5 in the T490s), making the eight-core Ryzen 7 Pro a heavy favorite in our CPU tests. You can see their basic specs in the table below. Productivity and Media Tests And on the inside, you get a SODIMM slot for memory expansion, as well as one M.2 PCIe x4 slot, which fits both Gen 3 and Gen 4 SSDs. As a matter of fact, there are either 8 or 16GB of DDR4 RAM soldered to the motherboard. The competing Dell Latitude approached the 4,000 points that we consider an excellent score in PCMark 10; the ThinkPad T14s burst past it as a productivity powerhouse. All five laptops' swift SSDs aced PCMark 8's storage subtest.
