About this deal

Results from shooting in low light are probably the most impressive aspect of the IXUS 115 HS when it comes to picture quality however, and performance is pretty much like for like in that respect with the IXUS 220 HS and 310 HS. The portrait mode on the camera delivers excellent images, with pleasing skin tones, whether using the flash or not, although there is a tendency for a touch of red-eye with the flash. The reason given is: It's missing info about the video recording specifications and the PowerShot Digital ELPH 360 HS (a successor to 340 HS model), which was also released in 5 January 2016, alongside 190 IS model. It has a 20.2 MP CMOS sensor with 12x optical zoom and 1080p FullHD video capabilities as opposed to ELPH 190IS model. For more info, see: [1]. Noise is handled really well by the 115 HS throughout the range of ISOs available. There is barely any noticeable noise at ISO100 and ISO200. As expected, it steadily worsens as the ISO level is increased, but even at ISO3200 you still get an image that would be suitable for a large sized print. A press of the function button meanwhile brings up a toolbar on the left hand side of the LCD screen, with options running from top to bottom. As on the IXUS 220 HS and 310 HS, the options are a lot more limited in point and shoot Smart Auto stills capture mode as opposed to Program mode. If selecting the former via the top plate slider there are just the options to adjust the photo aspect ratio from the default 4:3 to 16:9, 3.2 or 1:1, and choose photo and video image quality. But in Program Auto mode the same toolbar adds on the chance to choose from three metering options (evaluative, centre weighted and spot), 11 'My Colors' options, ISO speeds (ISO100-3200), regular white balance and the drive mode: single shot or continuous shooting. While the above is all fairly par for the course, if highlighting and selecting the 'P' for Program icon, the shooting mode options open up further and this is where Canon throws in some rather more interesting creative choices by way of various scene modes and digital filters.

The Canon IXUS 115 HS's maximum shutter speed is 15 seconds in the Long Shutter mode, which is good news if you're seriously interested in night photography. The shot below was taken using a shutter speed of 1/8th second at ISO 800. I've included a 100% crop of the image to show what the quality is like. The camera takes the same amount of time again to apply noise reduction, so for example at the 5 second setting the actual exposure takes 10 seconds.Estimated delivery times are provided to us by the respective delivery companies.
