And Ashley is a young, very-much-in-love bakery owner specializing in muffins who devotes herself to giving back to the community through a nonprofit that helps community members develop skills and find jobs. Still in her teens at the start of the novel, she is swept away by romance, heedless of warnings from the family. A deeply poignant and heart wrenching tale based, not only on real life events but real people, too—albeit fictional versions.

The descriptions of life on board the opulent floating hotel are suitably decadent, and accurately described as being class dominated. I will definitely read more by Celia Imrie although on balance, I probably prefer her highly entertaining works of fiction. The sections on The Titanic and afterwards are done very well and this part of the book is really good. The ‘Behind the Scenes’ notes provided at the end are interesting, explaining the differences between the real people in this drama and the fictional versions of them. Nevertheless, Imrie does make clear the shades of love from the early passion to the darker, more painful element. A young girl with her head in the clouds being swept off her feet by the cruel and manipulative Michel. I just wish there was more to love, the writing was easy to read and understand and the ending was sweet.

However, I do think she grew throughout the story (who wouldn't after going through her ordeal) and I loved how she bonded with Michel (a different character to Michael) and Edmond. But then Michael disappears one night, as do the two young children and Marcella embarks on a desperate mission to find them.

A book begging to be read on the beach, with the sun warming the sand and salt in the air: pure escapism. Author Mallery has created a delightful story of friendship between three women that also offers a variety of love stories as they fall in love, make mistakes, and figure out how to be the best—albeit still flawed—versions of themselves. Based upon a true story of two families whose lives were affected by the tragedy taking place in the early morning hours of 15 April 1912.

Through a translation he said: ' I remember looking down the length of the hull - the ship looked splendid. When Wellington confronts Bonaparte at Waterloo, the carnage is horrific as cannonballs rip bodies to shreds. Despite the novel’s rather drawn-out length and plot, it is ultimately Marcela’s story that Celia Imrie’s Orphans of the Storm uncovers as it portrays a feminine fortitude uncharacteristic of the Edwardian Era. I don't want to give away too many details about the time spent onboard the RMS Titanic, but what I can say is this is where Margaret Bechstein crosses the paths of Lolo and Monmon. This is a departure from the previous book that I have read by Celia Imrie, and which I imagine is more typical of her style of writing.Author/actor Celia Imrie does quite a good job uncovering this history and the real people involved. However, the pace for the first 60% is incredibly slow with events occasionally perking things up a bit. The White Witch, X-Men's Storm, Pennywise and The Mask: As stars get into the Halloween spirit - can YOU guess who's behind the costume? The third is New York born Margaret Bechstein Hays who is on a European tour with her friend Olive Potter and Olive’s mother Lilian. First of all, there’s Marcella Caretto, a young mother of two little boys who in 1911 is seeking a divorce from Michael Navratil whom she alleges is abusive. The ship itself has a small part in the story, the main focus is on the story leading up to the boys being on the ship and their life after the sinking.I remember being almost half way through and being slightly disappointed that the story hadn't reached the Titanic yet.
