About this deal

Having read some of Robinson's previous works, I have to say that this is her greatest novel to date. She writes from the heart, but skillfully avoids sentimentality, crafting a story that mirrors the complexity of real life in all its thorniness and messiness. Oh, my heart! What a wonderful, twisty, beautiful and heartbreaking book!… I love love loved it!’ Goodreads reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ In the end, the stepmother may begin to sour, because she is only human in the face of rejection, anger and hatred. And thus she will be in danger of becoming the stereotype she always wanted to avoid. Only, unlike the stepmother of myth, she is tormented by guilt, a sense of failure and a feeling of being betrayed by her husband. My Stepmother's Secret by Emma Robinson was another brilliant book, I was hooked from the beginning till the end. I loved it. I just want to say Thank you to author, publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this 5 star story . I truly appreciate it!

Emma Robinson continues to surprise me! She knows exactly how to engage readers’ emotions and pull them into a story. Maybe I'm heartless and petty, but if I was in Gabbie's place I would have thrown my husband under the bus from the beginning, after making sure my kids and I would be ok. Knowing how many lies after lies I'd been told, I would not be feeling sorry for him even a bit. Of course, you don't stop loving someone, but you can not make yourself, and especially your children, a victim of their addiction. You can help them try to recover and do better, but your first priority should be your kids. Also, I don't believe children, especially older children, should be kept in the dark about serious matters like this. If anything, it can be a learning experience. I was annoyed that Gabbie didn't try to explain to Olivia. She didn't have to make Liam look bad, but some honesty from the beginning would probably have been appreciated by her daughter. Obviously, this is the moral of the story in a sense, but it was pretty frustrating to read. I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Nicholas Sparks, Kate Hewitt, Diane Chamberlain Jojo Moyes, Jodi Picoult, Colleen Hoover and just anyone looking for a beautiful read. Little do I know that everything I thought I knew about the woman who destroyed my life when I was a child is about to come crashing down. Living together now, the secrets that have kept us apart for all these years are finally revealing themselves. Will our fragile bond break completely, or could it be the only thing that saves me and my daughters…?This well written family saga was full of secrets and the effects that those secrets had on other people. Gabbie has to decide whether to stay in her marriage and what she should tell her daughters about their father. It's also about choices and change. Is it possible to see people and situations differently than you have all of your life?. Gabbie is keeping all of this from her two daughters. She finally confesses to Jill the problem, but she does not give her money but says she can stay with her. In the meantime, Jill began to open up about the family secrets, where nothing was as it appeared.

Yet the act of trying to connect with a child who isn’t their own means the stepmother is likely to be rejected, time and time again – for acceptance represents to the child not only a betrayal of their biological mother, but also the denial of the stepmother’s attempt to be a substitute for that mother. Gabbie finally realizes she must depend on others for help. Highly charged topics from addiction, bullying, infidelity, affairs, family secrets, marriage, relationships, self-awareness, and second chances.

Gabby knows little of her stepmother, she was a young girl when she came into her life. She was the woman who destroyed her everything around her. and took her dad away from her!! However, living together now all under the same roof, all the secrets that have kept us apart for all these years are finally slowly revealing themselves. Emma incorporated some very deep, powerful and meaningful life lessons within each storyline. Lessons that can be used in our own lives as well. For some reason I was expecting a thriller, it definitely wasn't that, it was a straightforward general fiction based around family dynamics. The simplest advice Martin has is “putting the marriage first is good for everyone”. If only it were that simple. The most I can say now after reading Stepmonster is that I’m not only sorry for myself and sorry for my daughter. I’m sorry for my wife, too. I suppose that’s progress, of a sort.

We really see how resilient children are and how hard the truth is after being lied to or deceived. I really felt a connection with these characters as they were so well developed and portrayed. This is my first book by Emma Robinson, but will not be my last. The main mystery in My Stepmother’s Secret is why did Gabbie and her two daughter’s up and leave her husband to come stay with her Stepmother?! It was kept hush hush from everyone including the readers! I was dying to know what was going on and why she was so close lipped about it. However, I never ever in a million years think that would be the reason! I didn’t see that coming! First, I want to thank Emma Robinson, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

My Stepmother’s Secret focused a lot on the family dynamic and forgiveness. Oh there was tons of family drama, deep hidden secrets, very eye opening revelations that changed the perspective of what we thought was really real. This was a very deep and intense book if you think about it.
