About this deal

Developed by Vox in collaboration with Brian May, the amPlug’s AC30 + Treble Booster setting is quite literally “the Brian May tone in the palm of your hand”. Designed to recreate the unique sound of Brian’s Red Special and cranked AC30 signal chain (and not to forget the sixpence), our mission with this very special edition of the amPlug was to make Brian’s instantly recognizable tone accessible to all. As well as helping you achieve the unique tone of Brian May, his new signature range of Vox products will also help you look the part. In July of 1962, two young lads from Liverpool would acquire their very first Vox amplifiers, an AC15 Twin and a Top Boost equipped AC30 Twin. Later that year, the group would emerge from the studio with a song called “Love Me Do” and change the world of popular music forever, the unforgettable sound of their jangling guitars becoming the standard for great guitar tone for decades. This song, and the frenzy that was to follow this young group in the months to come, would result in Vox becoming the most sought after guitar amplifier in the world. Three additional onboard effects (which can be used in conjunction with treble booster) - Stereo delay with tap tempo, phaser and chorus The amPlug’s phaser effect also allows you to recreate Brian’s swirling live sound - transporting you onto the Wembley stage, circa 1985, from the comfort of your own home.

I was absolutely blown away by the sound it produced. I'm a Vox AC30 player myself, and use it (Brian May style) in combination with a treble booster. The sound coming out of this little thing almost nails the tones I can produce with the real thing. However, more neighbor-friendly. Of course, it does not give the same dynamics as a real amp with speakers. But for practice purposes it is really good. I feel for this edition because of the inclusion of the treble booster, which I like. Both the MV50 Brian May and amPlug Brian May are also available in a special limited edition collector’s set, including matching speaker cab, keychain and postcards.Powered by Vox’s Nutube technology – a revolutionary new vacuum tube that produces authentic tube tone at a fraction of the size and power – the MV50 Brian May is based on the MV50 circuitry and AC30 tone, but with the addition of a KAT (Knight Audio Technologies) treble booster, which can be toggled on or off, allowing guitarists to achieve Brian May’s instantly recognisable tone. A rich chorus completes the trio of on-board effects, designed carefully to make Brian May’s iconic sounds available to all guitarists.
