About this deal

The Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Cine, and Mavic 3 Classic are engineered for content creation: All three have a quality 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad sensor, but the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine also feature a tele camera for enhanced zoom. The Cine also has larger storage and Apple ProRes capabilities for high-end cinematography; Downward: Surface with a clear pattern and adequate lighting (lux >15). Diffuse reflective surface with diffuse reflectivity>20% (e.g. wall, tree, person) Like the Mavic 3 Enterprise, the M3T can carry additional accessories, such as the RTK module (which improves georeferencing accuracy but not to the level of the Mavic 3 Enterprise) and a loud speaker which can be a crucial tool during certain emergency scenarios. Incidentally, the DJI RC Pro Enterprise controller has a built-in speaker which can be used with the speaker accessory. With its heftier price tag, support for Apple ProRes and internal 1TB SSD, plus the fact it comes with the DJI RC Pro as standard, the Cine's target market is very much professional filmmakers and production houses, for high-end, top-level content creation. The extra hovering time available combined with the number of options available does encourage hovering with eyes away from the aircraft which isn’t an approach recommended by many aviation authorities.

When explore mode is activated on the Mavic 3, the camera automatically switches between the Hasselblad and the Tele camera when zoom reaches 7x. The hybrid zoom appears to compare the main Hasselblad camera to the max zoom Tele camera, for a total of 28x zoom. Photos on these cameras come in at 20MP for the Hasselblad and 12MP for the Tele camera, more than enough resolution for most users. HLG: Provides higher dynamic range, capturing footage that does not require colour tuning in post-production; You can adjust and turn them off if you know what you are doing and the sensors are inhibiting your shot. The Mavic 3 will constantly give audible warnings when something is getting close to it. Sensing System The standard controller that comes with the Standard version and Fly More Bundle is the same as the one you get with the DJI Mavic Air 2 and DJI Air 2S.The December firmware update came with improvements to obstacle avoidance, but when tested in the same highly complex environment as our original test the drone performed the same way. When flying within a tight avenue of trees, the Mavic 3 flew erratically and may have crashed into tree branches if it wasn’t stopped. Still, this was an incredibly tough test and when APAS was turned off, the drone was able to fly much more smoothly, albeit with a much greater risk of crashing. With the impressive onboard technology, it would be great to see further improvements to obstacle avoidance in future firmware updates.

The Mavic 3 is a nimble drone that’s much more responsive in flight than its Mavic 2 predecessors. In this respect, it's actually more like the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. The controls are simply much more sensitive in both Normal and Sport Modes, while Cine Mode offers reduced control sensitivity and speed for smoother flights and more cinematic video footage. A highly-capable and reliable drone, the M3T has omnidirectional object sensing, APAS 5.0 and Advanced Return To Home. The DJI Mavic is iconic, and the DJI Mavic 3 range builds on and innovates upon previous iterations of the popular Mavic family. To further aid agricultural applications, the Mavic 3M features a sunlight sensor for more consistent data; is compatible with an RTK Module (comes with the aircraft) to enable highly-accurate mapping without ground control points; performs Smart Terrain Follow to maintain an even altitude as you fly a survey mission across varying terrain; and can conduct automatic field scouting. And for operators looking for a lightweight, portable and dependable solution, the Mavic 3 range certainly covers all bases. The DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise is engineered for GCP-free, centimetre-accurate aerial surveying and precise visual inspection. In S mode, you can hit speeds of up to 19 m/s (or 68.4 km/h) with ascent speeds of 8 m/s (28.8 km/h) and descent speeds of 6 m/s (21.6 km/h). While C mode is limited to 5 m/s (18 km/h) with ascent/ descent speeds of 1 m/s (3.6 km/h) and N mode limited to 15 m/s (54 km/h) with ascent/ descent speed of 6 m/s (21.6 km/h). Compared to the S mode on the DJI FPV, it is a bit slower, but understandably given the vastly different purposes of those two drones. This new DJI RC Pro controller only comes with the Cine Premium Combo, with the Standard and Fly More bundles instead coming with the DJI RC-N1 pad. (Image credit: Future) One thing about the Mavic line is the drones are agile and responsive compared to the Phantom. I took the Mavic 3 out for some shots we needed for a new promo, and the pilot that normally uses a Phantom 3 was impressed with the Mavic 3. I also noticed how quiet it is as well. That is a big deal as drones tend to annoy people, especially in scenic locations where people are enjoying nature. Also worth noting is the 2x shot at the skateboard park is pretty darn good. It’s very usable, but I wouldn’t go any farther as it gets mushy. The table below provides some key specs of each controller, including the differences between the DJI RC Pro and DJI RC smart controllers.
