About this deal

Even with the fairly basic volume, tone and drive dials, this pedal has scope for a large array of driven tones – anywhere from slight breakup to thick high-gain. While there are even cheaper pedals in this guide for those who really want to cut costs, we feel that the Plumes offers the best compromise between tone and budget. Hooked up to a Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Soldano Hot Rod 50, the OD808X added smooth overdrive to the amp’s clean channel output. Yet for all its legendary status, there are some who wish the 808 offered just a little bit more – and for those players obsessed with excess, Maxon has created the OD808X Overdrive Extreme. The OD808 sounded as it should with its proper JRC4558D chip and I’m happy to report that fans of the 808 sound will be very pleased with the sonic results of the OD808.

The BOSS OD-1 might have coined the term "Over Drive", but the Tube Screamer made it a classic effect. As far as Tube Screamer clones go, the Hudson Sidecar takes care of a slightly different end of the market. The pedal has a nice weight to it, and I predict it will still be working perfectly long after I'm gone! Differences in the tone can be accounted for and will be affected more by variations in component tolerences in the circuits (esp. The OD808X offers the same “feel” and amazing transparency that the 808 is famous for – digging in you’ll get more break-up; rolling back your volume will clean things up and you’re guitar will sound like your guitar.

But in conclusion it works great on both channels and gets a lot of use + true bypass when not in use so no complaints here! much less money than either of the Ibanez or Maxon pedals, all the common mods built in and a GREAT buffer (VS really do have an awesome buffer in their pedals). You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish.Three controls - Drive, Tone and Balance - control the amount of gain, the highs and the level of the effect. The OD808 uses a standard, but smoother-switching “stompbox-style” SPDT footswitch and also includes an LED status indicator. It’s obviously built with longevity in mind – both with its timeless overdrive tone and hefty metal enclosure, and will endure pretty much any gigging scenario you can throw at it. While I have not experienced problems with the Ibanez 9-series style footswitches personally, I have heard some complaints regarding reliability issues with some of them.
