About this deal

If you go, I'll just tell everybody we had sex anyway," she said. "Who do you think they'll believe? If you stay, it can be our secret." During the few years around 1860 the church underwent a radical rebuild, including taking down a portion of the south wall, perhaps the area surrounding the old ‘bone house’ structure.

The case of the baby found in the lake is a complex and haunting one. Following the discovery, a young woman who Sarah knows, Cora, hands herself into the police. Sarah is really drawn into Cora’s story, and it is so intriguing, as well as heart-breaking. Even though Cora has done something terrible, I found myself really caring for her. You can see that she has been through a lot in her life, so I really wanted to find out what was going to happen to her, and Caroline Mitchell certainly has a few twists up her sleeve. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention, once again, how much I love Goat. No, the goat doesn’t really have a name beyond “the goat,” and there is a reason for that (Ryn’s logic resembles a quote from a wonderful Pixar movie: “Once you name it, you start getting attached to it!”), but this weirdly loyal zombie goat, smelly and rotting and ferocious and stubborn, is most certainly the best part of this book. No amount of argument will convince me otherwise.

I love this book so much😭 The vibe and the feel in the end got me all emotional. It's spooky, it's dark and it's scary yet it's healing❤️‍🩹 The Bone House by Caroline Mitchell, which is the third installment in the Slayton Thriller series, is a gripping new thriller with the intrigue of psychological and supernatural elements. I have not read the previous books in the series; however, I do believe this written well enough to be read as a standalone book. A Florida Detective, Cab Bolton, following up on the investigation goes to their home town and starts to unravel some very dark secrets that have been hidden and festering in the community. After the death of her parents, 17-year old, Ryn, is left to run the family's graveyard, along with her brother and sister. It's hard to believe a story following a gravedigger and the walking dead could be beautiful, but in the capable hands of Emily Lloyd-Jones apparently it is. Mark Bradley - the ex-school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with Glory's sister Tresa, also the last person known to have been with her on the beach the night she died. Slayton may be highly unusual in the events which have shaped it, but it has provided a refuge for many and there are reasons why someone would want to hide themselves in a town like this, both good and bad. Sarah's experiences as a police officer in Slayton are put to the test in the first investigation that she is heading, where everyone from her new boss to the much admired forensic expert bought in to assist has their eyes firmly on her.
