About this deal

My Contents on your Samsung Smart Monitor will display your favourite photos when the monitor is idle. I experienced the issue with both my Nvidia and AMD graphics cards, and Samsung declined to make any official, on-the-record comment about the issue. This is where the 28-inch 4K monitors tend to pull away from the LG-based alternatives like the Eve Spectrum and 27GN950, this newer display type is that bit better at lower refresh rates which creates a more balanced experience. It quotes response time at 1ms GtG, but this is largely meaningless, as manufacturers tend to fudge these numbers with a host of misleading techniques).

That said, the jump from 144Hz to 240Hz is much smaller than the jump from 60hz to 144Hz, so while it’s nice to have, it isn’t crucial to a good gaming experience. Also I should note that input latency is much higher when using the G7 S28 at a fixed 60Hz, I'd recommend setting the display to a higher refresh rate if possible. Find more about how to troubleshoot your Smart Monitor M80B If the screen is not normal when connecting to a PC with Samsung Support. Honestly, motion blur was so minimal out of the box that I didn’t feel the need to enable Overdrive, and even when I did, it didn’t make a hugely noticeable difference – though its highest setting, MBR, uses backlight flicker to all but eliminate motion blur. refresh rate, highest among 4K gaming monitors, eliminate lag with ultra-smooth action - all in exquisite ultra-high definition detail.

Because I understand that Samsung is not really open about FW updates, I have added a link with Firmware 1004. Input latency is good, especially for processing delay which is negligible and a mere fraction of a millisecond at 144Hz. Adaptive sync works, the resolution is great and this sort of display is highly specced, so it should last for a while.

It's unlikely that this would interfere with your ability to enjoy everyday activities or gaming, but it's unlikely you'd want to use the Odyssey G7 for any photo or video editing. To help you decide if this insurance provides cover that is right for you, the Insurance Product Information Document summarises the key features, benefits, exclusions and limitations of the cover as well as other important information. The range of features here is decent, including several color controls and some game specific stuff, like crosshairs for cheating. If the square flickers noticeably, the pixels aren’t responding fast enough, indicating a slow response time that could lead to ghosting.target, though I felt like the sharpness was turned up a bit too high out of the box – taking it down a notch made graphics look more natural. contentsTypeCode":"UM","filePath":"UM/202210/20221014074226001/BN81-22322A-01_WEB_G50A G52A G70A G95NA_EU_L25_221004.

Aside from the monitor itself, the box contains a USB-A to USB-B cable and a DP cable alongside the power cable and setup guides. It also has a functional sRGB mode to tame the wide gamut so the monitor looks good for SDR content consumption. It did make the viewing angles of the display slightly disappointing, however, with the top and sides having minor inconsistencies that were exacerbated by the dramatic curve of the screen. The problem is compounded by the fact that the plastic casing feels equally cheap and is prone to creaking when pressure is applied. With only eight zones, it’s simply not refined enough to make amends for the IPS panel’s low native contrast ratio. The stand is disproportionately petite: its spindly legs measure just 40mm at their thickest and extend no more than 200mm outwards. Having the ability to adjust overdrive settings may have led to further improvements at 60Hz, but for the most part Samsung's choice to lock the overdrive controls is only a minor annoyance and doesn't lead to poor performance. The Odyssey also ends up marginally ahead of the Eve Spectrum 4K, which uses an LG panel, while performance is much better than most of today's 32" 4K monitors. It also falls just short of the wide gamut requirements I'd ideally like to see from an HDR display. This is a great monitor for games that require rapid response times, although you’ll need a serious gaming PC (or a next-gen console) to take advantage of 4K at three-figure frame rates.

You're also getting adaptive sync support and compatibility for both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync for a tear-free gaming experience and a funky LED light built into the rear of the monitor to illuminate the wall with some mood lighting, though this sadly isn't RGB, nor will it sync to your other peripherals or react to what's on your display like a Philips Hue device. Display Resolution 3840x2160, Display Size 28", Refresh Rate 144Hz, FreeSync, G-Sync Compatible, 1ms Response Time, Contrast Ratio 1000:1, Panel Type IPS, HDMI 2. Ultimately, I wouldn’t consider it a total deal breaker – especially since variable refresh rate is less crucial at framerates this high, when tearing is hard to see – but knowing how widespread the issue is and how many users it’s affecting does certainly dock some points from Samsung’s favor.
