About this deal

I've only given 4.5 stars as I did guess a couple of things but equally there were plenty of things I didn't guess. A seriously gripping and gruesome thriller is coming to the small screen this autumn, and it’s one to add to the top of your watch list immediately. EXCERPT: Tom - This isn't the first time I've been in a police station, but it is the first time I have been interviewed in relation to a murder.

The Serial Killer’s Wife by Alice Hunter | Goodreads

I guessed the big reveal, but honestly that was the only downside if you can call a good guess a negative! Really worth a read, especially if you like slow burn thrillers. Husband is accused of murder and arrested. Wife considers him innocent. Surprise twist in the story occurs when husband is revealed to be the killer. Firstly, thank you so much to NetGalley and Avon Books for allowing me an advanced reader copy for an honest review in return 😊There are some editing errors in the book where paragraphs are missing. It took a bit away from the book but not enough to ruin the read. Her versatile talent has shone in various roles, from The Salisbury Poisonings to Medici, promising an engaging portrayal in this suspenseful thriller. Morgana Robinson, with credits like The Windsors and The Larkins, portrays Jules, one of Tom’s childhood friends in this captivating ensemble. I enjoyed this book the more that I read it and found I could not put it down. The closing was completely unexpected and I liked the open-ending – will there be a follow-up to this story? Whipping through the novel, I loved the twists and turns in Hunter’s narrative. There were many surprises along the way and with the unforeseen conclusion, I think it will definitely be in my top reads for this year. This. Was. GOOD! “The Serial Killer’s Wife” starts out with an apparently nice, normal couple, just living life, when suddenly one night the husband is late and the police show up at their door. The wife is startled thinking maybe he was involved in an accident, but turns out he can be involved in a murder… And everything pretty much goes downhill from that.

Be More Connell: British TV Has “Improved & Modernised” Its Attitude To Sex & Violence, Says Ofcom Study As soon as I finished the book and I wanted to read her bio and I found out Ms. Hunter’s main job was interventions facilitator in prisons, working at rehabilitation programs to men serving sentences, especially working with prisoners who’d committed serious brutal crimes! Very few books surprise me or leave me with a feeling of being cleverly duped so it was a pleasure to finish this book knowing that once again my amateur armchair detective skills are completely useless. Annabel Scholey takes the lead in The Serial Killers Wife cast as Beth Fairchild, on a mission to clear her husband of murder accusations. Scholey’s impressive acting credits include Nina Defoe in the popular BBC1 series The Split and Claire Brown in Doctor Who.

Beth and Tom are happily married. But when Tom is arrested for murder and his deep dark secrets come to light, Beth is left wondering just how well does she really know her husband? As more questions are asked about him, it seems she’s about to find out! Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the complimentary eARC. I am choosing to leave a fair and honest review. One night it all gets upended when the police arrive to talk to her husband about a murder. I found her reactions to this a little odd at the time - was that how I would react? Hard to tell I guess isn't it.

The book takes the reader on a lot of twists and turns as the evidence mounts up against Tom, whom it transpires has killed more than once, could it be multiple killings, did Beth know? What will happen to Poppy? Thank you Netgalley and Avon for giving me a chance to review this book! This review is based on my honest opinion. Perfection is a state which is always at least one step ahead of where you already are. A completeness that’s not really achievable. Flawlessness rarely is.”

The chapters are told from alternating perspectives and are relatively short, helping to build the pace and suspense. Then we learn about Phoebe Drake who drowned 15 years ago. How was she connected to Tom? A university sweatshirt figures prominently in this story. Whose sweatshirt was it really?

There is no official The Serial Killer’s Wife trailer available. We’ll share it with you as soon as it uploads online. Once the series is released, we’ll share The Serial Killer’s Wife Paramount Plus review. Alongside Angela Griffin, Beth and Tom’s idyllic small-knit community is expanded with the addition of Julie Graham ( Maternal, Ridley, Shetland) who is joining the cast as Beth’s absent mother Clover, while Shobna Gulati (Hullraisers, Inside No.9, Dinnerladies) plays pushy headmistress Kiran, Hari Dhillon ( Guilt, Holby City, Pennyworth) is Tom’s close friend and defence lawyer Maxwell and Morgana Robinson ( The Windsor’s, The Martini Shot, The Larkins) is one of Tom’s childhood friends, Jules . This book has amazing characters and wow what some twist this book has esp with the twist at the end What a belting good story it is as it is told between a triangle of the central cast of players, Beth, Tom and the missing girl Katie. Katie had been a former girlfriend of Tom’s before he met Beth. I had to take some deep breathes to read some of these chapters as the relationship between Tom and Katie developed. All three of them have distinctive voices. The writing was average, but oh so repetitive; if I hear yummy mummies or Polly poppet one more time, I'm gonna scream. Both of these twists would have given us reasonably good jolts while reading. Because they can be unexpected and sudden, depending on the author's writing skills. But in this book, there is no scope of such a major surprise until at least 62% of the book. Why? Because till that point, the book talks of only one murder investigation and the title of the book has already told us that the person in question is a "serial killer". Thus, upto the 62% mark, I was not thrilled but just waiting to know when the second murder details will be revealed. What a huge spoiler in the title itself! ☹️🙄 As soon as I saw this novel on NetGalley, I knew I wanted to read it. From the cover to its name, it called to me.
