About this deal

She's visited 29 states, 13 Man Vs Food restaurants and many bookish locations, including the cities where Twilight, Interview with a Vampire and Vampire Diaries were set. Being a fan of vampire stories and the macabre, she is keen to explore the spooky parts of the city.

It wasn't just the nostalgia making me carry on turning the pages though, the plot and writing are strong and I look forward to reading more from Amy McCaw in the future. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods.I had no idea where the story was going to take us but it is a journey that is memorable and fun to read. She is brave without being reckless, stands up for herself but knows when to pick her battles, and is intelligent and empathetic.

This transported me right back to my high school days, when I obsessed (and I mean 'OBSESSED') over YA vampire book series like there was no tomorrow. It’s on my bucket list to visit New Orleans one day and experience a slice of its rich history and culture.Mina and her sister Libby have had their ups and downs, but Mina goes to stay with her older sister for a summer she'll never forget. There are Vampire references aplenty (Kristy Swanson’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer also gets a lot of love) but fans of Anne Rice, in particular, will be right at home here. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. In this story we follow seventeen year old Mina who visits her estranged sister Libby in New Orleans where she is attending university after their mother suddenly disappeared, leaving them behind. sisters and their friends must do what they can to survive and get to the bottom of who the psychotic serial killer is, before it's too late.

You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! After their mother abandoned them, Mina and Libby went to live with their Aunt, who remained emotionally distant from the girls. With lots of 80s film references and nods to other vampire stories, this is a YA thriller/mystery set in New Orleans. After growing up in the town that inspired Dracula, Mina loves nothing more than a creepy horror movie. The story takes a little time to get going, spending some time introducing and fleshing out its characters, but once it does serve up its first victim, there are plenty more where they came from, and McCaw certainly doesn’t shy away from the violence.

I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. I may be biased for adoring this book so much as it IS about my favourite supernatural AND the MC’s are from Yorkshire like me but I had sooooo much fun reading this! I couldn’t put this book down once I started it stayed up far too late a couple of nights just so I could read one more chapter. Family secrets, murder, sisterly relationships and romance all weave together to create a thrilling story with a unique take on vampires that is filled with gore and plot twists. In the end, this might have been popular in 2012 during the vampire YA craze but in 2021 I expected it to bring something new to the vampire genre and it just didn't. It had a lot going for it: Vampires, New Orleans, the 1990s setting complete with fun pop culture references. What promises to be a fun visit and a chance for the two to reconnect soon devolves into a murder mystery with a decidedly supernatural bent. For instance, one of the villains is a character we met only once before for two sentences who isn't even given any motivation for their crimes. I found it hilarious how Mina was thirsty for Jared on almost every page and really liked their developing romance.
