About this deal

In my haste to get this project finished I didn't get much chance to take as many photos of the processes as I would have like but to be honest there wasn't a lot to it really, and there was no wood glue used either but it's as tough as old boots:)(Excuse the pun) Synthetic bristle brushes are better suited to water-based staining – whereas natural brushes work great for oil-based solutions. There are 3 steps in the process…

Of course, you could adapt this idea for a much smaller area and use it to store garden chairs, garden tools, other random bits and bobs too – which I kind of wish we’d added a separate space to do too.GardenGoals right? We had sloped paving slabs in front of the conservatory, then a large L-shaped area of concrete and a small section of soil in front of that – It was basically a mishmash of everything and anything. Needless to say, it didn’t look very appealing. The step into the kitchen (through the french doors) was also a little over 1ft high which our eldest dog was struggling to use. And on top of that, there’s a drain cover right beneath the door, which meant we couldn’t build a step there. We actually simultaneously merged this step into the one above, but writing that as one giant step felt a bit too much. So I’ve separated it just for the purpose of being easier to read/understand, but you’ll actually need to do this as the frame is being built. Once again a Project from a pile of scrap wood, always very gratifying and it does exactly what we want it to do, we can put shoes underneath, and also on the 2 tiers, Just the job, and built in one day as scheduled. I cut the lengths of scaffold board I needed for the 2 End Pieces, then using another scaffold board I measured these to the size I wanted minus the 2 end piece dimensions which was about 34mm, My dimension was 130cm,

Let the product sit on the wood for the specified amount of time, as per the instructions on the can. Our Scaffolding Planks are produced using European Whitewood. They are Graded, End Banded and the finest quality in Europe. These scaffolding boards must be supported every 1.2m when used on a scaffold or builder's trestle.

Obviously, these are used boards, which means they do come with a used look. Some are slightly split at the end, some have saw marks in them, some even had tea stained rings, one even had a lovely splash of red paint on it. Personally, I love it! But it might not be for everyone. My plan is to use the scaffold boards as the 2 end uprights and also cut the remainder into 4no 30mm strips/bearers and then cut the pallet wood into all the same lengths to span horizontally across the bearers. Cloths allow for an easy application – no need to brush or soak, simply wipe off. Unlike brushes however, cloths don’t offer as much coverage – and often require more than one application. Be sure to add an extra coat if necessary. Scaffolding boards can also be used for other applications such as furniture or general timber projects.
