About this deal

Beinn Chìochan or Beinn nan Cìochan, 'mountain of breasts' or ' breast-shaped mountain', is probably the original Gaelic name for the mountain. It's a celebration of the natural world, and a flight of pure fantasy - a heartwarming glimpse into the imaginary world of the future King. However, after meeting some other grumpy passengers and a disasterous start to his rail journey, he decides that he would rather stay at home after all. The book was later made into an animated short film by the BBC, with Robbie Coltrane providing the voice of the hermit and Prince Charles narrating. The English name refers to a mountain lake in the northeast corrie, Lochan na Gaire, the 'little loch of the noisy sound'.

It was first published in 1980 and has since been made into an animated film, musical stage play and a ballet.

He sleeps a few hours, then receives a letter and package from "a grouse with an evil look in its eye" as he is eating breakfast. When he is finished, the Old Man drains his bath using more of his special plumbing skills to reuse the water to reactivate the magic seeds and causing flowers to pop up all around. Lochanagar lies within the Cairngorms National Park, and also gives its name to Deeside and Lochnagar National Scenic Area, one of 40 such areas in Scotland. A malt-whisky distillery located near the Balmoral estate on the south side of the River Dee produces the Royal Lochnagar Single Malt whisky. The Princess and her younger brother end up being washed away from their parents and come out of a tree stump alone and wet.

HRH The Prince of Wales has been an environmental leader for over forty years, working with businesses, charities, governments and others to help promote sustainable ways of living and working. Since he is now the king and this has been on my radar for some time I decided to purchase this one for my library. He married Diana Spencer in the summer of 1981 to huge media fanfare, though the couple would eventually divorce in 1996 after years of gossip and scandal. The book was later adapted into an animated short film by the BBC, with Robbie Coltrane providing the voice of the hermit and Prince Charles narrating. The Gorm King is an inventor, and has created a curious device (which looks and sounds like a set of bagpipes) which reduces full grown flowers back to seeds. The old man decides to visit London after overhearing the conversations of "people having picnics in the heather. The Princess is reluctant to help the Old Man, but she relents and tells him that he needs to 'get watered'. He immediately shrinks to the size of a pixie and is taken away by the Prince and Princess, to see what his bathwater has done to their home. It was quite eccentric and odd and the story is wordy and there may be too much script on each page for reading to younger children but I found it delightful. It introduces the old man of Lochnagar - a delightfully energetic and carefree character who roams the hills and lochs around Balmoral, interacting with the birds and fish, and also the stranger, secret inhabitants of the locality. After a few notes, the Prince is affected in the same way as the Old Man, shrinking to a tiny size and suggesting that his story was inspired by true events. Written by HRH the Prince of Wales, before he became King Charles III, this timeless adventure is filled with wild imagination, invention and storytelling joy.

The old man makes a lot of noise and mentions that his neighbours used to complain about the banging and noise coming from his home late at night.

As he exclaims at the pain in his head, it dawns on the Old Man that since you can't feel pain in a dream, what he's seen must be real and the damage is his fault. Written and illustrated by the HRH the Prince of Wales, this is the adventure of an old man who lives in a cave by the Loch of Lochnagar. He harnesses them to a carriage and flies to the loch, landing his craft on the water "like a flying boat. The story is about an old man of who lives in a cave near Loch Lochnagar (which is close to Balmoral, where the British Royal family have their favourite Summer home).

The designated national scenic area is 40,000 hectares (99,000 acres) in size, and covers the mountains surrounding Lochnagar as far south as the head of Glen Doll, as well Deeside to the north. The story of the Old Man of Lochnagar was originally created by the Prince to entertain his younger brothers Andrew and Edward.
